I have trouble with using tone in my words but not interpreting tone from others' words. Weird, isn't it?

  • Radiohead—Amnesiac (especially the B-sides) Mr. Bungle—California ミラクルミュージカル—Hawaii: Part II (strongly related to Tally Hall, which is famous for their hit debut Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum) Brian Wilson Presents SMiLE (my preferred recording of this legendary unfinished album for its complete orchestration, but I very much get the argument that it just doesn’t sound right without the Beach Boys’ voices, so I also recommend giving the Dae Lime mix a try for its combination of original and deepfaked vocals)

  • is there any reason to suspect foul play with Swartz? his life was upended through facing the lawfare of "$1 million in fines, 35 years in prison, asset forfeiture, restitution, and supervised release" he could only get rid of by effectively renouncing his beliefs.

  • that is covered in the history books tho? it's cited as the biggest fault of the johnson administration, the impetus for the war powers act, an entry point to introducing the topic of counterculture in the textbook (flower power, anti-war, peace sign, Kent State...), and the progenitor of distrust in the government, after all

  • In the memo, ahead of the campaign’s launch, executives grappled with whether to include public disclosures about “secondary” use – water used in generating the electricity to power its datacentres.

They warned that full transparency was “a one-way door” and advised keeping AWS’s projections confidential, even as they feared that their advice could invite accusations of a cover-up. “Amazon hides its water consumption” was one negative headline the authors anticipated.

Callaghan said efficiency savings have already been achieved and pointed out that other companies also don’t count secondary water use.

Scientists balked at the selective disclosure and the choice not to include secondary use of water in the total.

  • That's what this looks like to me as well. "Notice: With the release of VFS for Git 2.32, VFS for Git is in maintenance mode", so they actually renamed GVFS to VFS for Git (lol). Git LFS on the other hand has been public under this nae for over 9 years, the linked PR is just 7 years old, and I doubt MS would have this much influence over Git and the Software Freedom Conservancy.

  • indeed, katakana. the actual website name is "マリウス", which I'm guessing means "Marius".

  • (there's also Ladybird but Servo is more exciting as the Rust one that used to be supported by Mozilla)

  • I don't think this was a suggestion, just a showerthought based on existing mobile app behavior

  • I don't think he was that rich... surely there's richer Americans who opposed even richer Americans and got knocked down, like at least Aaron Swartz. Not that I disagree with them on what led to their deaths. (Also, insult? More like going to great yet civil and pleasantrishly-polite lengths to oppose his campaigns.)
