  • Well Discord started as a replacement for IRC and TeamSpeak/Mumble, then began to add more and more things and got used as a forum replacement and everything went down the hill. Why not going back to the roots? We had fucking IRC scripts for matchmaking in Q3CTF.

  • And ctrl + shift + v to paste, just in case

  • you could also send mails within your local network, the hostname just has to resolve and have a mail service running

  • The can of formula may be a mom with a crying baby at home and she can't leave. Ordered only one because maybe she normally doesn't give it or didn't think of ordering more than one because of stress and panic.

The single candy bar could be a person with social anxiety or agoraphobia that was craving one. And it won't order more because this person didn't want to make more hassle than needed. Or a stoner....

  • It's iDRAC.

I'd say that RAC is the overarching term for different Dell Solutions, see Dell Remote Access Configuration Guide

DRACT supports the following types of RACs that support RACADM commands:

    • Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller 8 (iDRAC8)
    • Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller 7 (iDRAC7)
    • [...]
    • Chassis Management Controller (CMC) for Dell PowerEdge M1000e and PowerEdge VRTX
    • [...]

And it's just shorter and easier to say ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

but that's not as dumb as when he calls the SuperMicro system "iLO". That's IPMI. We don't even own any HPE. I've no idea why he's stuck on iLO.

Perhaps his first encounter with remote management was with iLO and he just thinks that this is how it's called. It's "integrated Lights Out", and "Lights-Out Management" as well as "Remote Access Controller" both are generic terms (and I suspect that this is why Dell adds an “iD” in front of its product names).

But we are way to close to the “GNU/Linux Copypasta” than I would like.

  • They should have a remote console like Dell RAC or HP iLO

  • Interesting, my devices always come without OS. And on preconfigured Windows for family first thing I do is wipe it to get rid of all the bloatware it comes with.

  • Wireguard with WG Tunnel on my phone so it automatically connects when I leave my WiFi. Some Apps excluded to use it like Android Auto because it doesn't work with an active vpn.

  • Or portable like on a USB stick that you can put in any computer instead of installed on a single system.

  • mimimimimimi

  • Subtitles can provoke transcoding. I'm not sure if it's when they're embedded or not but may be a starting point.

  • That's what package managers are for 🤷‍♂️

  • That's a stupid reason to make an installation as painful as possible. I can follow the installation wiki but I just don't have time for this. And an inexperienced user can follow the wiki or another how-to and finish the installation but still be lost if something breaks later on.

  • That's why I went with EndeavourOS - nice installer, some changes and tweaks to the default settings, but after that it uses the arch repositories and there's no difference to arch anymore afaik.

  • I'm wondering what will happen to openXchange which ionos is using currently and is afaik also holding parts of. It does exactly the same.

  • I don't use Windows anymore but Microsoft Powertoys exist. And I have no clue why they don't ship it with Windows by default...
