I'll do this later...

  • If you could recreate the crashes and get those steps into a bug report that would be great for the developers.

  • But then he won't have a k8s rpi cluster

  • Yeah I agree. I had to block a few people already for being toxic in one of those ways. I wish I had the programming skills to put in these privacy features myself though. Maybe only show recent posts/comments, only show posts from certain instances or communities. But I can see that being an issue to some.

  • I don't know of any document that explains "how Lemmy works". From the official website and the Github page all it says is it's a link aggregator and discussion platform that's self hosted. Each instance can moderate itself and impose their own rules. Nowhere does it state that all profiles have to be public. The official site also states that there is no advertising, tracking, or secret algorithms. All I ask for is privacy and I think that would align with what I've found on Lemmy's official stance.

  • Is that a genuine question or you trying to be witty?

  • No it isn't about shitty things being said. It's about you're previous post being used as a strawman to silence your current posts. Like if we were arguing about R Kelly's music royalties going to his victims and you decide to go back in my post history some months to find something I said about the war in Ukraine to use against me in my argument. It is unrelated but you didn't like either arguments so you want to use as dirt instead of arguing your point.

  • People who write documentation, tutorials, and offer help to newbies are also important. We as a community really need to highlight that you don't need to be a coder to contribute to open source. We should set examples how sharing of knowledge is just as important.

  • If these people really want to ban technology based on the views of the author then they might as well live in the stone age. And even then the tools they used was probably invented by some nasty people. The US space program was built by literal Nazi scientist. Most of the research on how humans survive in space was based on experiments done to Jews. The first immortalized human cell line and one of the most important cell lines in medical research are the HeLa cells taken from a black woman named Henrietta Lacks. She did not consent to have those cells taken nor was she or her family compensated. Are we gonna boycott cancer research because of this injustice? No? Only the things that make them feel uncomfortable?

  • I just use the Konami code and it bypasses so that. ¯(ツ)_/¯

  • My man saw Terminator

  • Don't forget that Kubuntu is an official Ubuntu flavor while KDE Neon is not. Being an official flavor means that they have to follow certain rules for their design.

  • The Reddit communities are opening back up and the mods are getting replaced. I don't think there will be many more Reddit refugees coming unless the company does something stupid again.

  • If it's in a language that I know then I'd help too.

  • That says more about that admin then about Lemmy.

  • Rules 10 and 16 seem to be contradictory. What if one of her "followers" was a woman and she humiliates her?

  • I really hope the developer makes an app for the fediverse. Joey was good

  • Microsoft themselves would have to Kickstart this migration. They would have to become hostile to developers, which they won't do because that's just stupid, or get rid of free tier and raise prices. Until the unimaginable happens the only thing the alternatives can do is improve their product or offer a niche experience.

  • When I was on Reddit I felt that I was at the whim of the company or the admins/mods. On Lemmy I feel like I have the power to make a positive change like you just did. Thanks

  • May also be because of US aggressiveness with sanctions. Microsoft is a US company and subject to US law. Not Linux.
