I'll do this later...

  • Congress has always been hated. We have no faith in them.

  • Yup. I got some JetBrains IDEs installed and do some dev work on it.

  • That is just my experience in Reddit. Mods will ban you sometimes if they don't like your opinion even if you haven't broken any of the rules. That mostly apply to power trippers but all your points are valid as well.

  • I think they want it to be more like Reddit. Carefully moderated so they can feel safe in their echo chamber. If it isn't then they'll complain and moral bash you into submission instead of putting in the work to host their own instance.

  • Why not just make a new account on a different instance? Are you trying to keep record of your posts? Your subscription? Blocks and friends? Can be an interesting problem for someone with the time and skill to tackle.

  • I miss the old days when you could just not feed the trolls. Now people try to silence them, fight trolling with hate disguised as the moral high ground. Many new Lemmy users are so used to the echo chambers and carefully moderated garden of eden that is Reddit. I just wish they would create their own instance, vet the users, and vet who they federated to. But I also predict that if they got big enough they would try to impose their morals on every federated instance.

  • Soccer is called soccer in the United States. The rest of the world calls it football. I don't understand why American football is called football when the only time a player's foot touches the ball is during a punt or field goal.

  • Maybe we should create a constitution that all other rules are based on. This document should outline the core values of this instance and any rules created that would violate it would become void. The constitution would not be ruled but guidelines for rules.

  • Even on reddit new comments were sometimes useful. If I had a problem with some software it was useful to see how others solved it as time progressed.

  • Wasn't there a theory on 4chan about how the internet will turn into a network of robots communicating with each other, creating content for other bots, and artificially generating outrage? No actual humans would use the internet because it would be only AI. Controlling the internet, AI controls information and thus humanity.

  • That right hand though...

  • So we're playing a tower defense game

  • I made a post one time. I was looking for advice. All I got was hate.

  • I've got a Nextcloud instance that I've run for a few years. Love it. At home I have an Odroid H3+ with 64GB of ram running Openmediavault. Got about a dozen containers running on that. I need to play with it more and use that ram. I did try to get Boinc running on it but it, sadly, kept shutting down. I'll have to find a another way to contribute to science.

  • You've pretty much described social media in general right now. "If you don't agree with me then you are the enemy and I will silence you!" There are no "difference of opinions" because it's easier for people to think in terms of black and white. Now there are limits. Don't promote hate and violence. Your words have power.

  • I was playing GTAV, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Final Fantasy Tactics PSP but the new Zelda dropped and I've put in like 70hrs already.

  • Kubuntu. I like KDE and been using Ubuntu-like OSs since 2007.
