  • Jokes aside, I think this would actually be an interesting thing that would get younger people back in cinemas. At least for the absurdity of it.

  • The problem is that the "subscribe" button is handled by the front end. And since there are so many different frontends / clients in use for Lemmy, there's no way to change it for everyone. Even the normal web interface is different for each instance.

    Lemmy sadly, afaik doesn't offer the option to set a custom label variable per community for the clients to use.

    The only option I see is for an instance to edit the web interface code to relabel the button for this community. But that has to be done through an instance and only works for users of the web interface of that single instance.

    TLDR: Technically possible, but will probably not happen.
