  • The TLDR version is that the old leadership was corrupted and misappropriating funds for personal uses. There were several lawsuits and the old leadership has been mostly ousted. The new leadership are trying to reform the organization to prevent abuse of the prior administration from returning.

They are still around at a reduced role. Other groups have popped up like GOA (Gun owners of America) and FPC (Firearms Policy Coalition).

  • Michael Troy has the uncreatively name American Revolution Podcast which is basically a full episode per event/battle between the French Indian War beyond the signing of the Constitution. Leans more history than entertainment but there's some deadpan humor in there.

    Chicken breast: $2.99 / lb

  • They can. The issue is people want everything to be federal and ignore their own state. Most Americans can't even tell you what the first article of their own state's constitution is about. Or their own state house rep.

  • The elderly population has greater healthcare spending per cap than the 20-30 year old population. Getting old sucks.

  • The conservatives justices (if you buy into the whole conservative/liberal justices thing) would 100% be eager to up hold a state healthcare law if it meant getting to strike down Wickard v. Filburn and allocating more power to the states.

But thanks for being at least one person in this thread who appreciates that Medicare and Medicaid are not synonyms.

  • America and Americans broadly do not respect "international law" as an idea. We don't vote for representatives in a UN House of Reps or UN Senate. And if we did why would we wish to be beholden to a majority rules vote when that majority combined might be inferior militarily.

America tolerates international law when it doesn't interfere with our course.

The idea of a "one world government" is treated as a fringe tin hat conspiracy theory nonsense that no one is advocating for.

  • Of the videos that have popped up in my algorithm I haven't seen any Canada hate. If anything maybe some Mexico hate, he had a video essentially asking for a NAFTA 3.0 where we kick Mexico out of the deal so they don't drag down US-CA relations w/ border politics. But half of his videos seem to be more on culture things like food or flags. Are there any particular anti-canada vids you have in mind?

Can't comment on the fake accent though never met him. Could be an act.

  • Assuming you're from Canada based on the .CA and says provinces (vs oblasts, cantons, or some other regional division), I would point at the interprovincial trade barriers.

  • College students can be eligible for SNAP & HUD.

  • They can think what they want. Being wrong is a them problem.

  • All liberty is guarded by four boxes. The soap box, the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box. They are in order.

Political violence is largely a terrible idea that results in continued suffering or retribution. People online flock to it as a remedy and often aren't fully aware of the structure of their local government. The best means of change are by convincing locals of a better alternative that is amiable to all parties. Online activism has a broader net but ultimately reaches less people in positions likely to be able to remedy local matters. Carrot beats stick.

  • Dude touch grass if someone wants to post cringe that's on them but responding to every one of their comments is just harassment.

  • Nope just skimmed the complaint.

  • I have another comment on this post which may be helpful for you. TLDR Biden's Admin had tried to protect trans people under the ADA via executive agency. Likely outcome is that will be reversed but the ADA (and similar or related protections) & IMO will not see broader impacts. This is because the law that passed Congress and was sign by the president specifically didn't include trans people when it was signed (along with a number of other peoples most trans people would be offended to be grouped with).

Tldr tldr: this likely stops trans people from being in the ADA's protection.

  • Full complaint is case 5:24-cv-00225-C filed in the US District Court Northern District of Texas.

It seems that the heart of the lawsuit is that the Biden Admin tried to get gender dysphoria to be a disability under the Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and ADA by means of administrative rule making. The text of both of those laws as written *by Congress and signed by the Executive have clauses stating they do not encompass trans people. (Cites are in line 2 of complaint)

I'd wager the constitutional argument on the spending power is to preserve another option for appeal. Realistically I think they'll probably win and get the Final Rule held to be a violation of the APA and struck down without the rest of Section 504 being touched. Their constitutional argument boils down to if the Final Rule isn't violating the law the law is too vague to be enforceable.

    *Edit

  • One day the mountains will crumble to the sea. Just as one day we will all be forgotten to history, and in that it is inalienable. The only question is if that's something you would want or not.

  • Re-read my comment above. They only have power which we vest in them.
