  • I prefer without for the aesthetics but also for functionality: compositing x11 with multi monitors of different refresh rates is still broken, everything becomes locked at 60hz instead of the max for each monitor.

  • the most bug-free gpu experience I have with Linux is Nvidia GPU + KDE X11 with compositor disabled. Pure bliss. I've had a 6700XT and it was terrible too, now I have a 4070. For my laptops, intel igpu works decently well with wayland KDE, but there are few bugs, like having to clear some apps gpucache (vscode) quite often

  • it's not literally hidden, but it's not easily searchable because since it's a chat, it's not indexable on search engines. A forum is a better solution to avoid the same questions being asked 1000x and to expose great solutions and advices.

  • That's the problem, discussions should happen on the open web, not hidden in chatrooms

  • Discord and matrix are not searchable, they shouldn't be used at all

  • Dell XPS or Latitude or Precision, ThinkPad P or X, Framework, LG Gram, System76 and other linux-focused manufacturers, Asus Vivobook

  • Gnome devs will never listen to criticism. Even if you do a MR it might get denied because it contraricts with the "Gnome way". Just use KDE and live an happy life. KDE can be easily modified to look like Gnome and have all the QOLs you need.

  • I'm sorry to say this but, your way of picking software is wrong. You should always look for the open source software first, then use proprietary software.

I wouldn't be critical of someone for using Photoshop and Premiere because there's no viable alternative for professionals in this area. But using Plex when Jellyfin exists is just wrong. I personally have a jellyfin instance, and there's nothing jellyfin can't do when compared to Plex.

Encouraging proprietary software makes them stronger and erodes our rights. Like using chrome instead of Firefox is voting for a future where remote device attestation and forced DRM is a normal thing. Do you want the corps to eradicate your free will?

  • Consider posting when you are an adult. At least mentally.

  • It's a bit unbelievable that someone who frequents foss communities would also pay a monthly subcription for an app...

  • Tumbleweed is pretty much the "official" kde distro

  • I once left my phone non locked in my pocket once and it started typing a ton of gibberish in a serious group chat. So yep, could've been worse for you

  • just install tumbleweed and never distrohop ever again

  • stop linking blogspam

  • Thanks for you solution, I did actually solve it and put my solution as an edit of the original post. Thank you for sharing still

  • It's not exactly lesser known, but I only use Kate on both Linux and Windows

  • I don't like the questionnaire nor its recommendations when I think about it in the pov of someone who hasn't used Linux ever.

  • Don't forget Tumbleweed KDE!

  • Your suggestion for arch-based distros isn't the best. Tumbleweed is a more friendly alternative for those who want rolling.
