I'm from space!

  • Not all apps support notifications. And those that do work by checking your notifications every 15 min or so. Real-time push doesn’t exist on Lemmy

I’m using Arctic on iOS, but maybe some people can recommend Android solutions.

  • Problem is if you mod a community. The lack of reliable push is why some pretty terrible content often remains up for so long.

  • It reminds me of when I drive to a ski town in California, like Tahoe. It’s always full of weekend warriors with little winter driving experience, and expensive AWD / 4WD vehicles.

20 years ago it was Hummers stuck in the snow banks, now it’s Cybertrucks. Also, there is always a healthy smattering of lifted pickups chuds and WRXs drivers who think they’re playing the winter level in Colin McRay Rally.

You never see the slow driving minivan with chains stuck in the banks.

  • Fuck the cyber truck and all, but there is clearly a lot of ice under that snow. It’s probably a road that isn’t plowed, and salted / sanded often. If the road, mass, and acceleration are correct, it doesn’t matter if you have AWD or 4WD.

He’s on an icy road, towing, and on an incline. Dude should have snow tires, chains, or should throw some sand down or something.

The driver is as dumb as his purchase.

  • IMHO, this was really a video about camera-only automatic emergency braking, not autonomous driving.

Lots of cars have AEB now since a lot of regulators are requiring it, but most use a combination of cameras and ultrasonic sonic. The top-of-the-line systems have LiDAR, cameras, and ultrasonic.

Tesla’s sensors lack redundancy. If the cameras are obstructed or can’t distinguish shapes, the vehicle can’t fall back to another system.

  • IMHO, at the end of the day, all of those vehicles have emergency braking systems. It doesn’t matter if he was in FSD, Autopilot, or manual control, AED (Automatic Emergency Braking) should’ve stopped or slowed the vehicle.

  • The road runner thing isn’t far fetched. Teslas have a track record of t-boning semi trucks in overcast conditions, where the sky matches the color of the truck’s container.

  • Bonus deep dive about using LiDAR to map out space mountain

  • But the iPod also isn’t around anymore.

  • That wasn’t really the thesis statement of the piece.

The piece primarily talked about out the listening experience. It’s a focused experience without notifications, listening is more intentional and curated (not controlled by algos), it’s nostalgic, and modding iPods it pretty fun.

  • Many people commuting in the Bay Area… “My Telsa.”

  • I mean, I was all into Master of Puppets era Metallica, but that doesn’t mean I had to like Load and beyond.

    Things change. That’s life.

  • He’s tried to fist fight the cops several times, so that’s a very real possibility.

  • The good news is that this guy is probably going to self-destruct. He’s constantly getting in trouble with the law.

  • I’d still call and ask if they could knock on his door. Keep “discouraging” him until he gets it.

Have other neighbors also call in and ask for help.

  • Yeah, I’ve got one of those selfish MAGA nuts living behind me. Dude lives in a house that was rebuilt after a firestorm burned 95% of the neighborhood to the ground, and he lived here during that rebuilding period.

A few 4th of July’s ago he was firing illegal mortars off his balcony and shooting firearms into the air. He was doing this once an hour for 12 hours before the cops hauled him away.

I stupidly asked him to stop because of fire risk and the fact that our pets were going nuts. He proceeded to try to fight me while yelling about freedom and other stupid MAGA shit.

He lives on the top of the hill in our neighborhood. So if he starts a fire, his place is almost sure to go. Fire runs up. He’s a fucking moron.

Report the guy to the cops or fire department if you can. Have multiple neighbors do it.

  • TIL someone shot whole series of these

  • Yeah, he did the whole show and that thing was pouring blood during the interview.

  • I’m also in voyager.
