  • Cool we can turn this into a new gig work app. The uber of ads. You open up the app and pay people small amounts to name drop something in a conversation. You could pay like 50 cents per person to 200 different people in your area to name drop your small business, that shit would slap. Then we could start using this to make people say anything for 50 cents each time they say it so we can spread fake news and gossip. I like this version of the future so much.

  • Omg I would love this so much

  • You are right, we should be able to build a mega laser cluster capable of projecting ads on the surface of the moon.

  • Did you try flatpak?

  • That's why huge instances are bad, they can't moderate all those users (I am on a bigger instance myself tho don't judge me).

  • I started using Linux in 2021 never had any problems with drivers for anything. Debian also. It was just a pain in the ass to install until I figured out I had to download the iso with non free drivers or whatever. Glad they made this easier for Debian 12.

  • Why don't you go back to reddit

  • I always just assumed all the distros I use have backdoors as a fact of life. I take comfort in not being a person of interest to anyone and just blend in with the crowd. I also don't use windows because for every backdoor my Debian may have, windows will have 100 more. Servers don't get hacked all the time because it is not linux->internet, it is linux->bunch of stuff->internet, but I am sure backdoors are there.

  • We who? Speak for yourself please

  • Yup, me on the fedi running away from big tech platforms, now meta stalking us even here bro wtf

  • If I wasn't trying to get away from Meta I wouldn't be on fucking lemmy I'd be on facebook. The whole point of me being here is I am trying to get away from them and other big tech platforms :)

You come to the fediverse for a reason.

  • Hm, I never used resolve so I wouldn't know about that. I guess you will have to try it out and see if it works fine or not, installing debian 12 doesn't take much time.

You can always use Docker and run it on a Rocky Linux image.

  • If you are using this pc for work I'd guess you want the most stable system possible. Just pick Debian stable with backports, stick with the official repo + flatpak and you won't have it fail on you unexpectedly ever.

  • It's easy to make the hardest part is flipping it without destroying it. If you have a double-sided pan that's easy too.

  • Spanish tortilla.

It is just a huge potato pie with only potatoes, onions, eggs and olive oil. Look it up if you never seen it.

  • Is it really so hard to find Linux computers in the US?

That's mindblowing for me, in Brazil it is super easy.

For example, these two below are two of the major retailers in the country, one is online only and the other one has brick and mortar stores all over:

    https://www.submarino.com.br/busca/notebook-linux

    https://www.casasbahia.com.br/notebook-linux/b

They are targeted for middle class to poor people so you won't find any great hardware but still.

You can see brands like Lenovo, Vaio (Sony), Acer, Dell, Asus, Compaq and Positivo (last one is a Brazilian brand), coming with pre-installed linux distros, Ubuntu, Debian and some other distros that idk. You can really find those irl stores not just online.

You can find desktops too: https://m.magazineluiza.com.br/busca/computador+desktop+linux/

  • Afaik upvote count on Reddit isn't even real anymore. It is still somehow rooted on the real count but their algorithm tampers with the count in undisclosed ways.

  • Would it be possible to have consistent karma on Lemmy? With instances being able to defederate from one another I thought that would be impossible unless there was some centralized karma counter.
