  • [email protected]Technically, it has an equivalent in r/ich_iel. But that's a generic German meme sub, while the fediverse version is dominated by half a dozen users making memes about their private life. It has a weird-as-fuck soap opera love story between a cow and ramen noodles, hero worship of a bright yellow superhero fighting against parking offenders, and genuinely interesting insights into the German public train system.

  • Unfortunately, the Fediverse shows you everything by default rather than things that you more or less want to

Uh no, that's a good thing.

  • Arch is the least buggy distro I ever tried.

Except for Slackware maybe. Slackware has literally no bugs. If it doesn't behave like it should, it's your fault.

  • How could it be anti-Semitic? Anti-American?

If I were a Russian propagandist tasked with eroding support for Biden and reducing US influence in the middle east, this wouldn't be a bad meme to post.

  • I'm sad that you have to throw out all the init scripts you've written in 30 years.Maybe stick with Slackware? I'm pretty sure you'll fit in well there.

  • Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit for everyone.

Ah yes, German unity and law for everyone. This sounds familiar...

  • My stance on this conflict is:"I'm German. I'm gonna sit my ass down and shut the fuck up before I accuse Jews of genocide."

  • I can't even tell anymore whether this meme is pro-Democrat or pro-Republican, anti-American, anti-Semitic, post-ironic or just cursed.

  • As a German, I feel safer already!Good to know the Vikings are with us this time.

  • Much better than 8 years old and next to a refugee shelter, or 3 years old behind a hospital.

  • From the Eastern German "Democratic Republic":

Chairman Honecker steps out on his balcony in the morning and greets the sun:"Good morning, dear sun!"The sun replies:"Good morning, dear Comrade Honecker!"

After lunch, Honecker again steps out on his balcony:"Good afternoon, dear sun!"The sun replies:"Good afternoon, dear Comrade Honecker!"

In the evening, Honecker steps out once more:"Good night, dear sun!"The sun replies:"Fuck you, asshole! I'm in the west now!"

  • I haven't lived under it obviously, but here's one from early Nazi Germany:

Mr. Schmidt returns from a 1-year sentence of political re-education in the Dachau concentration camp. His neighbor asks what it's like inside.

He says "Oh, it's really not as bad as you hear. In the morning, you can sleep in till 9. There's a hearty breakfast with eggs and bacon. Then you get leasure time till 11, you can read books from the library, do sports or just relax. They invite you to educational or political lectures if you like. Lunch is a 3 course meal. In the afternoon, after another hour of leisure time, you can choose from a wide variety of activities. Dinner is luxurious, and you get to enjoy free time again until lights are out at 11pm. It was really quite enjoyable, and I learned a lot about what great things the Fuhrer and the party are doing for Germany."

The neighbor is surprised: "Really? That sounds so different from what Mr. Schneider from down the block said. He told everyone it was horrible and inhumane, and that the nazi guards were monsters."

Schmidt says "Oh, but he couldn't have hated it that much. Last thing I heard, he's already gone back inside."

  • With prostitution, it makes sense (if you want to criminalize it at all). You don't want to criminalize people who are often pressured into prostitution, because that would cut them off from getting help or going to the police if they are abused.

With weed, what the Dutch model tries to achieve is to not punish people for smoking weed, but also not turn it into a for-profit industry that would create an incentive to get more people addicted.I think the German model is better in this regard: Let supply also be legal, but non-commercial. But they went overboard with the regulations (police can get a list of all consumers at any time, without a court order or criminal suspicion). And it looks like the decriminalization will fail at the last minute anyway.

  • I had a feeling this tool and its syntax was much too simple and elegant for it to be created by Microsoft.

  • I discovered yesterday that Windows has a command line package manager in Powershell that can install, uninstall and update basically every software you might ever want to install on a Windows PC.winget search ""winget listwinget upgrade

  • It definitely is in pro.

  • Or Arch. Or Slackware. Or OpenSUSE. Or basically any general purpose distro that isn't Debian-based.
