    Yup, that's real. I was once berated for offering free HIV testing at a Pride event. I guess the guy took it as a personal affront because he likely was HIV positive and thought what we were doing was ridiculous. But he did take the opportunity to try to make me look and feel bad in front of other people by mocking me and being absolutely rude. Like, you could've just said no. You don't need to insult an underage kid to feel good about yourself.

  • This drives me up the wall here on Lemmy and it manifests itself in so many ways. People just being outright shitty and calling each other names over a difference in opinion like "shitlib" rather than listening to what they're saying.

    Or even those who misinterpret why they're being downvoted and start spitballing while using that as an opportunity to grind their axe. "Oh, poor me is being downvoted for having these perfect ideals, it's the grander community who hates me, wah!" No, you're just being hardheaded and causing your own problems, why are you blaming everyone else?

  • I hate my fucking shithead neighbors who want to make everything tino a problem. Last night their kids were playing with our gate door so I went down and locked it without saying a word. Well, the little shit fucks came back and started slamming against it and yelling obscenities. Their parents nowhere to be found. They just let their cum goblins run around amock without teaching them any sort of decency or manners. I'm almost ready to throw a few of them into my cauldron and make some kid stew. 😤

  • It gets quite silly when you blame the entire dev community for supposedly downvoting you over ideals rather than being overly strict about them. I also prefer HTML-first and think it should be the norm, but I draw the line somewhere reasonable.

  • Yeah, absolutely, women are quite horny too, and I don't mean to downplay that. I'm only talking about my experience and what led me to this attitude that I wouldn't have accepted for me mere years ago.

  • Not idol worship, rather, it's silly to complain about JS when tools like NoScript allow you to selectively choose what runs instead of guessing what it is. It's simply a documentation page like it says on the URL. I mean, they're incredibly tame on the danger scale to leave your guard all the way up and instead take a jab at the entire community that had nothing to do with your personal choices.

  • I'm not saying all men, because I was one of those men who valued loyalty above all and planned to have my one and only. I still think these men exist, but they're very rare, especially in the gay world. I even find them a little naive for my taste now. It takes a very particular mindset and self-control to stick to monogamy in the long term, and that's what I've lost out of spite, because I never got that in return.

    By "men aren’t built for that," I mean so many things by that, from our biology to the endless barrage of cheating stories, and even to socio-cultural differences between countries. Too many things point to us not being a monogamous species, but our societies in the West tend to romanticize and entertain the idea anyway.

  • I used to believe in love. After getting my heart broken so many times, I've realized that men, gay or straight, aren't built for that, so I no longer expect anything other than a temporary connection that will lead to sex and then stop. So fuck it, I only want sex now. I've been alone, and I can stay alone.
