  • That is really interesting.

  • CEO salaries were huge and often complained about long prior to SOX.

In the USA a law was passed to make CEO pay public for public companies. It was intended to shame the companies into lowering the salaries. CEO salaries skyrocketed. One guess was that "Our CEO must be the best, so we must pay the most to get the best."

This was long before SOX in 2002.

  • No, the wheel needs to compile with this standard set of libraries and compilers, not that set of standard libraries and compilers. Duh!

  • Type I.

ElectroBoom (Youtube) made some points about Australia's Type I. Seems it was very hard for him to electrocute himself. Lots of breakers on the outlets. I mean he did electrocute himself, but he was always going to.

  • Yup! Every time we add a new technology, the old does not go away. We just have more (gestures wildly) everything.

When picking a career specialization, don't abandon all the old stuff. Some of it makes a lucrative career after others have moved on (HPC, COBOL, on-site servers).

  • Great to know. I don't know if 106% of CPU is good or bad, but it is not what I had anticipated. Thank you!

  • I enjoy that "reading the book" and "taking a practice exam" were not listed as activities done. :)

  • I am convinced the entire actual point of college is to test "ability to finish a project". A Bachelor's degree is a four year project. A Master's degree is an additional two year project. A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is an additional five to eight year project. (Do remember that a Master's is not needed for a PhD.)

This is not a judgement on the many reasons for stopping.

  • Might be chaff for AI training.Just upvote the crazies and move on. Something something Sarah Connor.

  • While I have heard of people doing this a decade, I have never looked into it.

How was the install and setup process? How is the resource consumption of the server? At one point it seemed one had to supply their own quests. Are there open source quests available? Anything cool I didn’t ask about?

  • One way money transfers, controlling people's time and career aspirations, dividing families, rape, and murder.

Not all "Influencers", but some notable cases.

  • Interestingly, not a video about police brutality, but about known unsafe roads.

  • Greif and loss. The first year is the worst.

Might be time to focus on processing the loss of your previous hopes, dreams, relationships, and projects.

  • Given this definition: https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diagnostics/22327-differential-diagnosis

Your healthcare provider will compile a differential diagnosis, which is a list of conditions that share the same symptoms to help make a final diagnosis. The differential diagnosis will direct your healthcare provider to offer tests to rule out conditions and lead them to find the cause of your symptoms.

Seems one builds a list of other things that could be the answer. Then one rules those things out.

Seems a lot like building a hypothesis (ensuring it is falsifiable), and then proving it wrong.

Edit: In "Clue", I make suggestions in the late game where I expect only one part is falsifiable.

  • A "Clue" expert?

  • There are evangelical thought leaders that preach the opposite. They say liberals are wrong about all of that.

And people believe up is down.

  • With the 1972 change in how horsepower is measured (gross versus net), the modern car is even closer to the muscle car's horsepower.
