  • OK, imagine youre in a new car and youre like hmm donuts are good. But you know that when flight was first discovered it was scary, then after all that scares you knew it was worth while running the distance. Sometimes you gotta know when to fold em.

  • Well, Its not very typical, I'd like to make that point.

  • When I was younger I had a computer where the front fell off and stripped the wires from the button.

To turn it on and off I had to hold the wires together, felt like I was hot wiring a car every time.

  • Thanks, yea from what I gather the term is "idiomatic Rust" but its the same thing really.

As far as the client goes,I've made some slow but decent progress. I've got it connecting using STARTTLS and authenticating, and have been able to send a message to a user. I've got the user interface going as well using Egui and Bevy, its not "connected" to the back end yet, but its been super easy to get going.

  • Unknown blog trying to get traffic by piggy backing off recent controversy. Nothing beats the classics..

  • Sounds like Bevy would be the way to go, I found the bevy_egui crate which seems like it might be what I'm looking for to get started.

  • I had the Z680s, they were amazing. Easily had them for like 15 years or something

  • When adding a debug print statement changes the locking of a thread and the problem doesn't occur..

  • Don't share all your WiFi SSIDs my dude. Its very common to be able to find someone's likely location based on all the network names. Even Google and Apple use this technique instead of relying on GPS.

  • Lots there to take a look at. I'll definitely be setting up unit tests to test out multiple servers for sure.

  • Thats great, thanks. By the sounds of it I can probably continue with developed, I just need to find where people are going and what servers have the biggest population.

    Thanks again!

  • Thanks, is there any indication on the number of daily users for some of those servers? Some of the IRC indexes would have usage graphs to get an idea of how popular it was.

  • Awesom, thanks for that. I'll do some digging to see how widely used it is. Cheers

  • The Linux community can be pretty tough, but also there's a decent amount of people that are very anti-Linux that love to pile on the hate.

Hopefully they can automate a lot of the work out of the way to reduce the friction

  • Oh get fucked. I'm not using any website that needs me to scan my face or prove my age, no good can come of this.

  • No stress, just making sure there wasn't some other reason for it. Cheers

  • Cheers I'll check out Ansible, it been on my lost of things to look at over the years anyway so its a good excuse to dig into it
