  • For me it's because you all never went far enough. It's not about data privacy. It was always about data scarcity. You all wanted content creators to get paid while also using that same platform to keep your stuff private. Except the way content creators get paid is working for websites and corporations that steal your data and create profiles that information brokers can trade amongst themselves to build larger profiles where they don't even need you to use any of their systems just to build your profile. But you like random bearded guy that makes cat comics. We should have always been hostile to anyone using the internet to create content in order to sell it.

  • I love this idea when in reality they probably have some Israeli 3rd party that they use that can just pop any system in under an hour regardless of any protection you think you have.

  • It's not just soldered there's like a shield with anchor pins surrounding it that makes it hard to desolder

  • I tried that. It didn't help. I even cleaned it when I had the phone apart with some 99% alcohol. No luck

  • It has wireless charging but I have a few on call situations and diabetes that I prefer a plugged in charge just in case I accidently knock the phone off the charger at night.

  • My charging port died and I'm so pissed. 2 year old Google pixel. Never buying pixel again. I looked up how to desolder the charging port and it's a pain in the ass. It has this like weird shield over it and I have no idea how to desolder this thing. Why can't it be straight forward

  • Because you're thinking about it wrong. With a bigger population it'll cost more to influence them. If you ever watched how they did it in 2016, they started small, always. The first sub Reddit's to see lots of opinion shifts where small subs like local interest before they moved on to the larger metropolitan ones. If you're paying to influence people then you need a chain of initiation to start. This makes Lemmy a much greater target than Reddit. Look at opinions on AI. Lemmy was full on sharing multiple daily headlines like "AI is coming for your daughter's" while Reddit thought it was just a neat tool.

    The goal is 10%

You need to create enough bots to maintain 10% of the content is favoring your view. If you can sustain that then opinions begin to shift for the entire group. People will start to join and create their own. That 10% is much easier to achieve in smaller places. Lemmy is perfect for it

  • Wouldn't it make it more targeted

  • Holy fuck the AI hate is getting super pathetic

  • Really? Have you all not realized that removed almost all porn a few years ago. Anything that wasn't from a studio or only fans account was removed. All these sites are owned by the same company. Its easy for them to purge content or restrict access. Even with a VPN, they'll just find the IP they use and ban those over time

  • Don't they get the common VPN IP and just block them

  • Sure. Keep telling yourself whatever you need to justify all these losses every day. The left is cooked. There's no coming back from this. It's not the fault of the billionaires or the Trump's or Nazis. It's the fault of the left for giving it all up and being so unappealing that those assholes could grow and capture the people the left alienated

  • It doesn't. We need results. Not morally hand wringing. We can do that after we get back the culture

  • You're going to learn quickly in the coming years that these facts aren't going to prevent you from getting punched in the face and thrown into a cage. I don't think this guy is a Nazi or listed the Indian war as some kind of back handed reference to that. But I do think there's no amount of loss you can suffer that would ever make you realize how badly people like you have fucked everything up the past 10 years.

  • Where did he say killing civilians

  • Remember when the Internet was about collaborating instead of making money and getting famous. I think we will never see that again

  • Guys I need something that can check if someone is using autocorrect. Stoopid clankers.

  • The passengers came together and joined forces at the back of the bus momentarily before returning to their seats. The bus driver understands now how many there are. This isn't a race

  • I tell my kids this now. It's all fun when you're young but as you get older you'll realize some people say these things with malice and that's when you start to see why it's not a great practice. Over time you see some people aren't just joking or shit talking, they really don't like women or lgqtb or librarians.

  • No Stupid Questions @lemmy.world

How are these ICE agents allowed to fire on protestors like this

People who have been in meetings to determine back to in office policy. What was the discussion like?
