  • I'm curious, why are you sick of Manjaro? I've been use it for 2 years and it's been smooth sailing. Genuinely just curious.

  • Maybe I'm old school and in my late 30s, but I like linear games, they have good stories and aren't too long. But it helps that I'm a patient gamer, so I don't buy AAA titles at ridiculous prices.

For example, I bought Mafia Definitive Edition when it came out (one of the rare times I've done that, but it wasn't $70) and I thought it was well worth the money, even if the story is a bit shorter than modern standards.

I'm all about quality over quatity. Give me a good story every day, don't force me to do side quests that have nothing to do with the main story (I'm looking at you, Assassin's Creed).

  • Worse. Paradoxically, it encourages piracy.

  • The beauty of Lemmy/Kbin is that instances will naturally form multiple alliances with each other. Racist instances will form alliances with each other, and respectful instances like Lemmy.world will form alliances with respectful instances. Think of instances as countries.

Already, Lemmy.world defederared with the racist instance Exploding Heads: https://lemmy.world/post/747912

  • What we need is a much better landing page for join-lemmy.org because I was utterly confused about it. Initially I thought these were all independant instances not sharing information (federation).

  • Twitter became a cesspool ever since Elon Musk to the reign. I keep of getting racist and NSFW tweets.

    I use Mastodon nowadays.

  • Perhaps. Or they are biding their time until the blackout then will actively be looking for an alternative.

  • I've finished both games in the collection. They work perfectly in Linux :)

  • "Sigh*. I've been using Manjaro for two years now and I haven't had problems. Everything always worked smoothly.

  • I second this. It sounds that you want a rolling release distro. Suse Tumbleweed is also a good choice.

  • Woohoo! I hope a lot of FOSS project have their own Lemmy/Kbin instance. Reddit, a capitalist platform, is no place for them.

  • Click on the title. It links to ZDNet's article.

  • That is the community of the app. In Lemmin, when you type !community, it searches for the community's link just like in reddit when you type r/subreddit.

  • Reddit's situation is now mentionned on the NYTIMES. That means it made it. May the fall continues.

  • I have a good experience with Memmy ([email protected]). The developers release an update every day.

  • Reddit Migration @kbin.social

Reddit is in danger of a death spiral

  • The problem with North America is that it is closed to trying new things because it believes that its way of doing things is better than the rest of the world.

For example, roundabouts could help with traffic flow and reduce accidents, as they have been proven to do in the rest of the world. But unfortunately, North American drivers are absolutely terrified of them, so cities will not implement them.

  • Nothing is immoral when you're capitalist platform wanting to make money.

Fediverse is the only platform that will offer freedom.

  • Unfortunately, Reddit is a business and not a community effort like Fediverse. Shareholders took them by the scruff the neck. Moderators were working for free and are unfortunately realizing that it never had their interests at heart.
