I think it's because of societal expectations for men, which are generally broken down more in LGBTQ spaces. Maybe you could hang out with LGBTQ+ people (even as a cis het person). I think most would be accepting of you and care about you, as long as you are accepting of them.
You don't need to experience gender dysphoria to be valid in your trans identity. The real question is, what identity do you feel reflects you the best, and which you want to be.
I'm not looking for HRT just yet, but that map would definitely be good to keep in mind for when I do.
Currently I'm looking to get a primary care physician, someone to prescribe me ADHD meds (probably more of a specialist), a dentist, and a therapist. If I wanted to, I could go stealthy with all of them except the therapist, but I would prefer to develop relationships with providers who would continue to be supportive once they do know, since I couldn't hide it forever.
Currently my plan is to do my social transition all at once and to start HRT after that point. Maybe that's naive, and maybe that will change, but for now that's my plan.
I would definitely like to look into organizing. And I think that I will be able to handle being vocal and advocating for myself and my fellows.
I've looked up several voice training tutorials and I think I have a plan that will work for me to do it. I just need to put in the time to do it. I think it will be really fun for me to have better control of my voice, so that's a strong motivator.
I think there's something deeper to not being able to remember them, like the brain not writing memories of them or something. Then again, my memory is particularly bad and some aspects of it are completely non-functional, so that could explain my experience.
Easy. High taxes on the rich and spend that money to give good universal social programs, and also avert climate catastrophe. The tiny fraction of rich people will disapprove but screw them anyways.
The hard part is getting the political will to do the obvious right thing when politics is controlled by the rich.
If the democrats lose the election, I fully expect them to roll over and let Trump take power. In that case, Trump would have the institutions on his side, even as he seeks to dismantle those same institutions going forward. Democrats constantly show themselves to be willing to play by the rules, even as Republicans show themselves to be willing to bend those rules.
If he loses the election, I expect there will be an attempt to take power anyways (again), but I think that attempt is likely to fail (again) when he doesn't have the institutions on his side.
The degree of difference between the two potential outcomes is quite pronounced. You can say "Both sides bad" and you'd be right, but bad vs good is not a binary, it's a spectrum, and there's a huge degree of difference in how bad the two sides are.
We don't live in those "generally" times, currently. One of our candidates is running on a fascist platform, tried to do a fascist coup (and got away with no consequences for it), and has both promised and planned to overthrow democracy if he's elected.
Maybe he would be prevented from doing all that stuff even if he won, but I'm definitely not counting on that. I'm gonna be fleeing like a jew from Nazi Germany because quite frankly that's what I see it potentially becoming, and they've definitely painted a target on the backs of trans people in particular.
I am under no illusions that the democrats will be fully on our side, but when the other side is specifically trying to wipe out people like my partner, they're a very clear choice. I'd much rather live under a government that's not actively trying to wipe us out.
We're absolutely planning to live in a blue state. But the ability to be safe even in blue states is in question if Trump gets elected again. If he does, then we're probably gonna try to get out of the country as quickly as possible rather than waiting around to find out.
