  • That's a cool read, thanks for sharing

  • Yes, that's an option but it's not a long life preservation method which is what I'm asking about. It's just hunting/ gathering fresh food like anywhere else.

  • Yes, but you can't shelf citrus for like a year. I'm asking about long life preservation methods, not necessarily for sailors back in the day but in general.

  • I think the record I've seen apples last without refrigeration was two months, three maybe with a fridge. They were shriveled and slimy and gross but still edible. Not sure how well the C preserved, apples aren't notorious for large quantities of it anyway.

Citrus is a bit less long lasting, either drying out or succumbing to mold.

  • Excuse me? This horse is fabulous

  • I don't believe an artificial object can become sentient. But even if it does, no, I'm not afraid. I'm afraid of the damage AI already causes as it is.

  • Not sure if I'm following you correctly but the two main problems, for lack of a better word, getting in the way of religion adopting science is that it requires 1) change the already "proven to work" model they already had for ages and 2) some critical thinking and openness to new ideas. As for point 2, it not be much required, but it's population averages we're talking about, so that makes it more difficult.

  • This guy always shows up with his hands like this in news photos

I know it's irrelevant but I had to point it out

  • There's like a gazillion ingredients but yeah hyaluronic acid is close to what you seem to suggest.

The gold standard is in quality, you can get hyaluronic for ten bucks and you can also get it for 80. Not the ingredient itself

  • I'm concerned about cables pooping in bed now

  • Jabra does it regularly for me. I'm not sure if it's a brand issue tbh, it could very well be the amount of oils and wax in my ear, which in my opinion isn't out of the ordinary but it prevents an earbud from recharging properly. Sometimes it won't do until I wipe with alcohol. Visually there is no difference between before and after wiping.

I've complained in the past and I got a lot of Jabra zealots swearing they've never had anything like this happen to them. Also I haven't tried wireless from other brands yet so take that into account.

  • Pasta, instant noodles, polenta, rice+tuna, bean guiso or stew whatever you call it. Also whatever vegetables in season and cheap, ie, potatoes, pumpkin.

Frozen Basa fillets are the cheapest unprocessed meat too

Search for guiso recipes if you need to learn what to do with legumes. Beauty of guiso is that the amount of ingredients doesn't matter much and you can always add more of what you like and remove what you don't like. You can add any bits of meat to it like sausages, chorizo, beef, chicken, you name it. You can also add any tubers, onion, or pumpkin if you have any, but if you don't have any of these things you can still cook it.

  • Yes this also infuriates me

  • You'll probably break them, and even if you don't they will taste a bit like tomato sauce. High risk of getting them stuck to the pan.

  • I haven't noticed anything in particular, which country are you talking about?
