  • I've been on Google Fi for 3 or 4 years and it's been pretty much flawless. I've traveled to Mexico and Spain with it, and there's a sort of calibration period of like 30 minutes before you have service in another country, but that's literally the only time I've been without service for any period of time. My wife and I are on it and use very little data, so covering both phones is typically about $60/month. We usually have 5G service around our home in northern VA.

    Proof of bill cost:

  • Toxic by Britney Spears. Absolute fucking banger. Musically interesting for an American pop song. Each chorus has the chords walk down, which is pretty cool, but then on the next bar something really interesting happens. Instead of walking down from the second of the four chords, there are back to back tritone substitutions! So fucking cool!

  • I would be a better husband, first of all. I'd have much more time and energy available for more than what I already do around the house plus better dates. Beyond that, I think I'd write and record a bunch of music just to share with the world, maybe try to make a few bucks off of it but not beyond "buy me a beer" type donations from people who can spare it. I really want to do a post-rock concept album before I kick the bucket, just to have a big completed project checked off. Maybe I'd write some bad poetry too until I got sorta good at it, maybe a book if I had enough to say.

I'd also play even more video games, obviously. Maybe I'd finally hit champ in Rocket League lmao.

  • No, this is how quickly you are supposed to age. You just didn't realize how much time has passed. The movie that this is from is 26 years old.

  • Depends on the day. If I dismiss outliers where it's less than 20 minutes, my average is probably about 90 minutes based on checking my app history over the past few weeks. A good chunk of that is typing comments, sometimes looking up a good link to include. I usually swipe through while skimming posts and open comments for a post once in a while, occasionally adding a comment in there. I rarely post anything but comments.

Today I'm at 35 minutes and probably mostly done for the day.

  • I think there's not really a hard and fast expiration date. I think it's more of a probability gradient which can skew from person to person. Career bounceback depends on industry, fitness, credentials, network, etc. Love life depends on personality, looks, intent, intelligence, sense of humor, stability, etc. A loser in their 40s can't even really compete with somebody in their 60s who's on top of their shit.

I think that if you're concerned about this, therapy and/or meditation might help you to get uncomfortable enough to identify aspects of yourself that need work to improve. Small changes can yield big advantages in terms of tackling specific goals. Everybody can benefit from therapy, so don't let some weird stigma scare you out of getting the best out of life.

  • No, askreddit is the reddit version of asklemmy.

  • Was genuinely thinking of them here. Hail To The Thief released in 2003, and it kinda sounded like they were winding down. Imagine blinking and then having In Rainbows, The King Of Limbs, and A Moon Shaped Pool dropped on you all at once.

I'll also say Foo Fighters. Based on the 2004 criteria, we would only know about what's below the red line here and then suddenly have a ton of other, evolved stuff.

  • That's not true at all. Watch the video I linked. You can control CPU fan, GPU fan, and any case fan from this one elegant piece of software. And you can establish fan curves based on thermostats. So for example, with high CPU load and low GPU load, normally your CPU would hotbox your whole system; with this you can tell your GPU fan to ramp up based on CPU temps to get ahead of heat soak and start ventilating more before the GPU ever sees that heat.

  • I haven't tried it myself yet, but Fan Control looks incredibly promising. I keep going back and forth about whether it makes sense to build a desktop, so I'm just gathering lots of info for whenever I finally pull the trigger lol.

  • fubo is a buttjones. Dispatch and neutralize.

  • I know that it's not what you're asking for, but I thought I'd chime in with a lateral solution. My wife and I live in an apartment building and neighbors can be pretty loud, plus I have rotating shift schedule so my sleep schedule slides drastically to support that. If the noisy environment is mostly outside, thick blackout curtains will also dampen a lot of sound. Otherwise, a fan will do a lot in terms of soothing white noise that also kinda masks other sounds. And finally, for the actual reason I started leaving this comment, there are pretty solid Bluetooth sleep masks that are designed to be comfortable and have battery that can last all night. My wife has one and it has really helped her out. You can also remove the electronics to wash the mask as needed.

Again, I know that this isn't what you were explicitly asking for, but it could solve your root concern all the same. Good luck!

  • Wait, you think that racism is new? Where were you during pretty much every history class ever?

  • Sounds like you should be looking for suggestions for places to get fucked in the ears then.

  • Now that fast food is no longer cheaper than a sit-down restaurant, it just means that fast food has no use case anymore. You're better off picking up a grab&go type thing from the grocery store. Fast food used to be cheaper, more consistent, and faster, but with the concession that the quality wasn't great. Now it's expensive, it completely sucks in unpredictable ways, and it isn't actually that fast. It's like the industry only exists for people who are on a road trip and also want to punish themselves for some reason.

  • Same. I started with a couple of friends around when it became F2P. They live in another city, so that plus voice chat is just how we catch up and chill, usually with a few drinks and with some dumb jokes here and there. We're familiar with the controls and systems and everything, so doing anything else has the barrier to entry of learning a whole new thing. R6 Siege looks cool but complicated. I don't get Destiny 2. FC24 is pretty good but I'm not sure it has the same staying power for us as RL.

  • "The good stuff" is still poison, just milder and tastes better.

  • Being right isn't cheap.

  • Gotcha, yeah that's the best of both worlds then.

I didn't mean that you will be in an echo chamber so much as that they will be in an echo chamber because if everybody ignores them then they have nobody left to challenge them. There are a ton of lurkers reading but never or rarely posting or commenting, so I'm mostly challenging bad faith arguments for their benefit. Without challenge, somebody casually reading might just accept that bad faith argument as fact or at least valid. Idk how effective it is, but I'm doing what I can to reduce the radical right wing incel neckbeard population. 🤷‍♂️
