  • the whole point is to follow the laws of a book

No. The whole point is a relationship with God. The reason we read the Bible is to learn more about God. The Bible isn't an instruction manual, it's a biography of God and his people.

  • No rolls barred on YouTube did a video on hard mode pictionary. You could use some of those ideas.

  • Two languages. English and Maori.

Thank you in Maori is "kia ora" (key-ah or-ah, but mostly said more like k-your-ah). Literally translates to "be well", kia meaning be, ora meaning life/wellness.

Please in Maori is a bit less clear. There is the word "koa" (I don't know how to phonetically write it, but all the letters are pronounced the same as above), but that's a concept that came with pakeha (European settlers). Before that, it was more about the tone of the request.

Edit: actually I do know more, but English and Maori are the two main languages I know any of.

  • Probably "with great power comes no accountability, and therefore great responsibility". It's the lack of accountability that means responsibility is needed.

  • So did Frisbee

  • While I can see where they're coming from. I'm sure they want you to just be safe.

That said, it's a terrible idea. How will anyone know how many people hate the current government, if no one speaks up about it. Sure, it can be risky, and the governments most worth speaking up against are usually the ones where it's the most dangerous, but they're usually the ones that more people hate.

  • Rewind time the child's age + 9 ish months, then head to a sperm bank

  • Now we learn what Dr Octopus' true goal was

  • There's also the "0.25 × 4" thing. ε is set to 0.25, and φ is set to 4. No nuance, no thought about how the economy actually works. Just make it so they can pretend they're thinking about it how demand will change.

  • Ah yes, because the eastern front never happened

  • A. Opposing far right policy is opposing rich people. They're choosing policy that let's them exploit more people with less consequences.

    B. You can be upset at multiple things at once. There's good reason to be against the general "right wing voter" mentality as well as wealth inequality.

  • I see no issue here. A man can absolutely be 'cute' without being any less of a man. Masculinity isn't about rugged looks, strength, dominance, or any of that shit. It's about self confidence (not arrogance, just being comfortable being yourself) and giving to others, both of which you seem to do well.

Honestly, I'm surprised you haven't found a partner to match you yet.

  • The issue isn't whether or not their documented or felons, it's that they didn't have a trial so they didn't have a chance to prove either way

  • I'm not sure 'inching' is the right word here. 'Speedrunning' might be more suitable

  • A lot of people today can barely learn one language. You're suggesting that an entire religion's followers learn Ancient Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic, all 3 in dialects that are 2000 years old at the latest. I'm pretty sure God will accept whatever language people happen to read the Bible in.

That said, you do get so much more depth out of the Bible when you look at the original language. From Eve being made from Adam's side, not just a rib, to King James hiding that God will protect you from the tyrant. I'd love to dive into the original language more, but I'm far from a linguist.

  • I can't say for sure what religion you're talking about, so I don't know much of the religious context for this definition of heaven and hell. My issue with this definition is emotions are so much more complex than "happy is good, sad is bad". A lot of people who have dealt with depression (including myself) will tell you that it's far worse to feel nothing at all. I'd much rather feel the sorrow or hate, and have help from God to work through those feelings.

I find the Christian (specifically protestant Arminian, and yes that is my religion) answer to this question much better. Basically, hell is the other option to heaven. Heaven is where God is fully present, so there must be somewhere else for those who reject God to go. That place must be fully apart from God, otherwise he would not be honoring their decision, and so he would not be all loving.

  • If you're coming to New Zealand, you can throw a dart at a map, go there, and you'll probably find some amazing walking track.

But if you want recommendations, my top three are lake Waikaramoana, tongariro national park, and anything in fjordland

  • I've seen a musical called Rent. It's about people in New York who are homeless/stuck in poverty around when HIV was at its peak. Honestly I don't know much about it, I mostly saw it because a friend of mine was performing, but it's definitely not a typical upper middle class perspective.

  • Agreed. You go furniture shopping, you can't really carry a couch back home in the tube. Cars won't be entirely replaced, but they wouldn't be needed in most of their current use cases
