I'm saying that's been the tactic for over a decade now. Even our most promising individuals reached the highest of positions and still blinked when staring into the void that is our economic and political systems. I wish you were right that we can rely on "strong leaders" but time after time they take the money and run. Or try changing things within but that takes time. And it puts a lot of personal accountability on other people when we know our core systems need to be uprooted and replaced.
I think we are way past incremental change. Climate scientist around the world are either saying we are past the point of no return or getting close to it. Isreal is close to implementing their final solution for the Palestinian people. The US Supreme Court just overturned the 4th amendment. The 13th, 14th, 15th, and and 19th amendments are openly on the chopping block. We are past needing small steps in the right direction.
I love how we have sex criminals at every level and branch of government, but somehow people still think a bumper sticker and marches are going to turn things around...
We need serious civil disobedience but everyone is more afraid of losing what little crumbs they have.

Floating bills. Last month was phone service. It's actually currently cut off. This month I'm floating my medical insurance and medications. Next month is internet and car insurance. (additionally I've cut all discretionary spending, driving up to my home town to see my parents, and have cut 1 to 2 meals a day.)
