  • Driving manual is not particularly complicated, but it will require you to focus a lot of attention on it at first. Since you also have to cope with with differences in driving regulations, this will put you and your passengers more at risk than necessary.

It takes time (~tens of hours) to build the muscle memory so that it becomes natural. For a vacation in the short term, you should go ahead with your plan to rent an automatic.

  • Most of the time it's because client-side anti-cheat is not being well or at all supported on Linux.

For instance Roblox used to run on Linux through launchers such as Grapejuice or Vinegar. However the devs now explicitely block Roblox player on Linux due to a large quantity of cheaters coming from there according to their stats. Since their actual Linux userbase is minuscule compared to other platforms, they just chose go the easy (and probably financially sane) route.

As for Fortnite, it's all about the ROI baby !

Why is Fortnite still not playable on Steam Deck?

If we only had a few more programmers. It’s the Linux problem. I love the Steam Deck hardware. Valve has done an amazing job there; I wish they would get to tens of millions of users, at which point it would actually make sense to support it.

  • Don't get me wrong I love my Steam Deck... But with its mass-market appeal the Switch 2 is going to steamroll over the handheld gaming device market.

As streamlined as it is, the Steam Deck is sometimes finnicky due to it being a PC (which is an amazing thing for tinker-minded folks). Plus it cannot play some of the most popular PC games on the planet (Fortnite, LoL, Roblox, etc).

Windows handhelds are even more niche, because dealing with Windows on handhelds... Man that takes some serious dedication.

I would wager that Nintendo is going to sell at least 20x more units as the whole handheld gaming PCs lineup combined.

  • I did the fix today, with a small strip of electric tape folded in 2. Hopefully it holds long enough to get to the Steam Deck 2 🤞

  • Thanks for giving me hope for a "light" fix. How long did that hold until your unrelated RMA ?

  • Maybe if I could find an adequate one, but it's likely to be expensive and they could as well break it for good.

  • I tried it out. The current lack of BLE support excludes a fair number of controllers (Steam Controller, Xbox Series Controller amongst them). Waking with a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller works but getting the controller to properly connect after that is finnicky, oddly enough.

  • Prince of Persia The Lost Crown looks like a banger, but I am unwilling to spend any amount money on it until Ubi gets the memo and strips Denuvo from it (at least outside of the launch window).

  • If you do not sign your commits, you deserved to be impersonated. Well, not really, but you get the gi(s)t.

  • The people laid off in 2023 (no less than 16% of the company's headcount) might have opinions upon hearing that.

  • Epic actually financed Remedy's development of the game, as opposed to swooping in at the last minute to offer a timed-exclusivity deal. In that case I was fine buying the game on their platform if it meant the game got to exist at all. After all I do not expect Valve to sell their games on another platform than their own.

Don't get me wrong: I'd rather the game was sold on Steam, or even better, DRM-less on GOG. I did wait for a number of those timed exclusives to find their way on Steam or other stores (Borderlands 3, Kena, Journey, Control, Hades, etc). It's a shame that so many people will not get to experience AW2 because of its delivery platform, because it's a damn unique game.

  • Circuit Superstars runs beautifully on the deck. Do not be fooled by its top down point of view, it actually leans towards simulation rather than arcade (aka "simcade").

On the other side of that coin, BlazeRush is full on arcade mayhem. It is also top down PoV, which I find lends itself very well to portable gaming.

  • Yes it seems Bridgy Fed is opt-in for pretty much everything, so using a fediverse account to access bluesky content is not really an option.

  • Very much worth a watch, this show is pretty unique. It does complete its story arcs, so you will not get frustrated by that if that is your worry.

  • Excellent show overall. Season one was riveting, but season two felt rushed.

  • The Defenders ensemble cast mini-series happen between S2 and S3. That does not in fact answer your question, but hey stuff happens there.

  • A bit of an acquired taste, but the entire Earth Defence Force series can be played split screen (2P only). The best entry point into the series is EDF 5 (story reboot, QoL tweaks) which is often deeply discounted. Plus its direct sequel EDF 6 just released in the west last month

  • I did multiple playthroughs, over ~150h. I do not expect to return to it, now that EDF6 is out. It reaaaaaally resembles EDF5. From what I have seen thus far, it could be called an "expandalone". There is much more difference between EDF4.1 and EDF5 than EDF5 and EDF6
