  • Probably taking advantage of you. You seem like you’re the only real person who’s been kind to her and she doesn’t respect it but desires it and only comes when she needs it.

That’s a user. Someone who doesn’t care about you and only wants you around when you benefit them.

A true friend is someone who is there with you for the good and bad times, alike. They’re not just coming around because they need help. They’re also coming around because they want to spend time with you and grow with you and they want to be there when you need help too.

This is not a friend of any sort. This is a person who uses people.

You seem to partly know this deep down since you call her a former friend. You know she’s up to no good.

  • It’s so smart. It’s a wonder why no one ever thought of it before…

  • My Dell Latitude was that way except the fingerprint reader. Dell’s website even has Linux drivers for my laptop, nearly everything but the fingerprint reader except a Windows only driver.

  • This was Zorin for me.

Dual screen worked without issue on live USB. Installed on metal and dual screen no longer worked…

Never got it figured out. I just moved to a different distro.

  • 128GB are even cheaper, some in the $10 USD range.

If all you do is web browsing and word processing, that’s more than enough.

  • I get them confused sometimes too, but no I can confirm I used borax this year. Here’s a picture of the box I have been using

Same brand we’ve been using for years. Unless Borax is the name of the brand lol but the side of the box says “ingredients: sodium borate”

But that’s good to know on boric acid! I heard that for ants too, mixing borax with sugar and a little water and put it somewhere and let them take it back to their colony where it wipes them out but I’ve actually never tried it that way. We only ever sprinkled this down on the floors inside and outside and then vacuumed it up when the summer season is over.

Speaking of ants, I haven’t had an ant problem like I have in previous years too. But that may also be because I’ve been pouring boiling hot water down anthills in my yard as soon as I saw them appearing in the beginning of summer too. It could be due to this, I’m unsure. I had a really bad ant problem in the house last year too that I forgot about until you mentioned that, but I’ve had none this year, and not sure if this could be related now that we’re talking about it.

  • My dad swore by borax and I can attest to it this summer.

You can find it with the laundry detergents.

We sprinkle it on the ground and it covers everything like a scene from Scarface lol.

But what I’ve heard happens is that the roaches get it on their legs and it begins killing them as they have further contact with the powder.

I’ve heard this isn’t toxic to humans or pets, and I’ve not had issues myself or my cat or any of the other animals we’ve had over the years doing this.

I have had really bad roaches and earwigs at my house. I got fed up with it this year and threw down some of this all over the ground outside and inside. I did this at the beginning of summer when they start getting crazy.

I won’t say I’ve not seen any at all, but the numbers have gone down by 98%, easily, on both of these nasty insects.

There’s a place under a berry bush I have that seemed to harbor them and I made sure to sprinkle down a lot around the edges of that plant. About 5 inches away from the base, but still close enough and in a circle around it. I have seen some but much much less than in previous years there and my berry bush is doing fine and not reacting badly to the borax.

  • We get it too when using virtual desktops in the cloud at work. It’s hilarious.

I just wish I had a way to block them. Sometimes I’m troubleshooting or researching and a Reddit thread pops up. It’s a waste of space since I can’t even visit the damn site.

  • My mom did this. She went into the post office where a woman who I went to school with many, many years ago was now working and asked her out in front of everyone. I wasn’t there, but she told me about it and I legit felt embarrassed.

Thankfully the woman was nice about it and did go out with me on one date but politely declined a second date. She was very kind and nice and made, what I think, was the best attempt to legitimately give me a chance at a date but we just weren’t compatible to her and that’s fine.

Say that to say, it’s perfectly normal to feel embarrassed because parents asking out someone for their child (for lack of a better term as you are an adult) is weird and abnormal.

But if you’re up for it, go for it. This can be both embarrassing and a real opportunity to find someone nice. Hopefully she’s nice like my date was and can give you a real chance.

But if you don’t want to, that’s fine too. Everyone moves at their own pace and your dad needs to respect that. Regardless whether this works out for you (and her) or not or if you decide not to go, he needs to respect you moving at your own pace and making decisions when you want to move and when you don’t. And if he wants to help, he should respect you by asking you or waiting for you to ask him for help.

Don’t be afraid to stand up for yourself.

  • Sounds like some people I stopped being friends with from work last year. Everyone else is always the problem. Eventually they had a problem with me and their issues weren’t even valid.

You can’t win with these kind of people. Your best option is to avoid them as much as possible and let them inevitably bring themselves down. Keep everything work related and stop doing anything extra for them.

Sounds like that’s already in progress. It sucks. It sounds like you’ve been really kind and tried to stand up for them. Maybe they have some underlying issues, but that’s not your concern. You should be protecting yourself.

  • Fuckin a, you weren’t kidding.

This is from Amazon on the first two I saw in USD

I spent less than $500 for my 50” 4K Samsung but here is twice the price.

  • He doesn’t come around too often unfortunately and when he does is when I’m at work. He’s leaving his vehicles there temporarily while he moves out of state so likely out of state and wing be back for a while.

Why I’m sure it’s him is that no one else goes into this property and this all coincidentally started after he began dropping off his cars.

But I am going to be coming by more often.

  • That logo made me think this was named Logics Pain +

  • Honestly I’m glad for progress too. But to me, it’s still not enough. I’m glad I didn’t get any comments about how little it was like I was thinking. I don’t care how little trash it is, I don’t want to see ANY of it! I think that’s what got me so enraged because I’ve been coming to this property for decades and never seen any amounts of trash and to see these straight up infuriated me.

I went to Iceland a few years ago and it was so clean. I couldn’t find one bit of trash anywhere, in any place of the country we visited. It made me feel sick to my stomach comparing it to my home where trash has become a literal part of the city streets. Gum and other spots and little bits of random trash fly around and it’s just another day for us.

I want so much better for our planet and society as a whole. It kills me being on a hiking trail and seeing the littlest bit of trash in the middle of nowhere. Takes me out of the experience and reminds me of the state of filth we live in and just feels so wrong to do to the one place where humans are not permanent, let alone our own neighborhoods.

I had no idea what it was like before my time, but it feels good to know we’ve gotten better about it, in some respects, especially judging by that picture. Glad we had people like you helping to make things better.

  • I thought about doing it to his cars since I don’t know where he lives. But I figured that might be just making it go back to where it came from, whether he gets mad and throws it somewhere else or it blows away. I’m not sure when he gets back too. He’s parking his cars here because he’s moving out of state and just wants to keep them here temporarily, so no idea when he’d get back to ensure he gets back his “lost property”.

  • Agreed, I couldn’t find a community named that accurately described my emotions. This will have to do.

  • I always remember the neon signs 99 Cents stores used to have saying “nothing over 99 cents ever!”

  • Yeah we do get those too, like “avoid downed power lines” which I can understand why they’d have ads for that, for public safety.

Just seemed weird to just tell people you exist when we have no choice but to have you. But other comments seem to provide good reasons for that.

  • Not in my area because I would take it in a heartbeat.
