  • Yes I can stop myself from sneezing without holding my nose. But I've heard it's bad for you. Some people cannot do it, and are surprised when I do.

  • Usually it’s 1 second of yellow per 10 mph speed limit. So a 50 mph road would usually have a 5 second yellow. While 25 mph 3 second yellow.

  • The person I replied to specifically said it was part of the 7th grade curriculum. Classes like that existing is not surprising, but it being part of middle school curriculum is very surprising to me.

  • I went to a rural school, and everyone had a “hunters education” class in like 7th grade. We never touched a gun but we could legally go hunting with a gun after.

That's crazy. I had no idea anyone had a class like that. We're basically training kids to be school shooters... at school?

  • I can clearly read the name you attempted to black out.

  • Literally.

  • Han Solo is a reluctant hero. Not an anti-hero.

Hud (1963) is an anti-hero. He defies traditional morality. He's almost heroic-ish in the way he defies others, and is willing to do things his own way. But the film is constantly showing other people, who have strong values, and how Hud often does the opposite. Despite being a horrible person, he's not really 'the villain' either.

EDIT: Rick from Rick and Morty is an anti-hero.

  • I'd say when you move out, more or less, probably a bit after. So I'll say 21 years old. Maybe 25 for many, especially if they still live at home. But once they're out of the house they need to be more independent.

I'm 35 and I haven't felt 'parented' by my own parents since about 20, but every girl I've ever dated has had a closer relationship with their parents than I've had. The only thing I can tell you is that it's VERY common for girls in their 30's to still be talking to their parents 4x a week. I try to call home once every 2 weeks or so, which is apparently very distant compared to most families I know of.

  • They work for getting rid of that 'hard' water taste.

It might reduce lead and PFAS in some small way (leaving them trapped in the filter and slowly leeching into every glass you pour until you replace it), but it's not really doing much for that. It's not going to fix Flint Michigan's water.

If you're in a place with bad drinking water, first you should use one of those water purification tablets, then put the water through a Brita filter to get rid of the tablet's taste.

  • I once got detention for "hacking." All the school computers were on the same network, so if you opened Computer Management, then selected a different computer on the network, you could... get this... eject the disc drive on unsuspecting people. They'd be on their computer, 15 feet away, and then I'd click a button and their disc drive would eject, momentarily confusing them.

Librarian saw me using the "My Computer" folder to get to Computer Management, apparently that was proof enough. How is using available folders on the computer "hacking"? I have no idea, didn't seem to be relevant.

    • Reality TV. Being young and attractive are key factors. Being a contestant on Survivor or something.
    • Combat sports, if your fights are on TV. Talent is not required, but being young and athletic are important (still not required). At the low end of the sport are regular people who drive cabs. If you can beat 5 of them, being 5-0 is probably enough to justify a page.
    • Stand up comedy. A few news articles and maybe an acting credit, and you're probably notorious enough for a page.

These are all things that are not typically full time jobs.
