  • I thought that stopped working recently.

  • I stopped using Spotify last year, and recently dug my old ipod out of the drawer. Listening to music without an Internet connection and all the spyware is so liberating. If you have an ipod or other old mp3 player, try it out again!

  • That could change, but you are probably right. I am the only person I know who thinks it is a civic duty to transition off facist media. Nobody else around me cares. I mean NOBODY. Not even the tech savvy folks I know.

  • Is this data bubble ever going to fuckung pop? So tired of this shit? I don't want to live the rest of life like this. Who tf wants to have kids in this nightmare?

  • It was never about child abuse. It is about eliminating competition of federated media.

  • Can you access your bank account through a web browser?

  • Exactly! This was what I thought. Bet!

  • This is the exact reason that it is a hard no.

  • I think they mean private as in, not a publicly traded company. Palantir would never ever ever respect anyone's privacy, and under no circumstances ever can it be assumed that they will have ethical business practices.

This is a hard no. Fuck Palantir. Also, fuck Theil too. Hope he rots.

  • Exactly. And employers never want to buy enough seats. There is always someone using it. Matplotlib will make the same MATLAB graphics. I am a MATLAB ninja and my Python sucks, but MATLAB can eat a dick for the aforementioned reasons.

  • I suspect if you need Simulink and other special features, Octave and Scilab might not have all that.

  • Also, if you can code in Python, the matplotlib library can get MATLAB graphics for you. I have decided to learn Python since it costs $0 and employers never want to buy enough MATLAB licenses.

  • So basically, it was a dog and pony show to begin with?

  • Now that I know more about blobs, I hear they are encrypted. I wonder what that looks like when you open code in an IDE. So like, maybe you can read it until a certain line, and then it turns into some type of encoded gibberish. I wonder if you could delete the gibberish and it still work.

  • No worries. It was useful to hear the AUR feedback and the idea to try systemd timer using the update script added to $PATH. I could try an update.sh with reflector first, then pacman, and maybe add a few items I installed with AUR or various items in my /home/.local/share as well. For sure thanks for the feedback!

  • "Use Safari in Incognito mode." I remember when they said the same thing about Firefox.

  • I am not saying I don't enjoy it. I love it, actually. It only does what I tell it to, so many off the issues are my fault. I use the AUR too much, I'll bet. Is that not recommended? I have only upgraded Arch once in a year is my issue. I had to basically delete Hyprland and then update Arch because a Iibrary that needed to be updated had dependencies. One problem could be I am 45 and stress has hurt my cognitive function a bit.

I will probably move to using openSuse for my last Windows replacement just to have something a bit more manageable. I will keep the Arch. Although I complain, I feel comfortable with the peace of mind knowing that I built it and it does not have garbage bloat on it.

Edit: Also, my reflector issues are because the update function sometimes does not work. Actually, most of the time, I use pacman, the mirrors are outdated, and I must run reflector, and it rarely works the first time I run it.

  • If it is open source, why not delete blobs?

  • So does that mean it will use blobs only if a person has Google Play? Honestly, I don't really understand the definition of blobs. Tracker code?
