  • There is, to those whose strategy is to give themselves a pat on the back for doing the barest of bare minimum and successfully maintaining the status quo, rather than doing anything actually useful to oppose fascism (or the capitalism that will always decay in to it), or in the words of MLK himself those "more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice" - it gives them a dopamine hit and an ego boost so potent they seem able to ride on the smell of their own farts for 4 years at a time while doing fuck all else to change society for the better (for anyone but themselves, that is) because they've already "done their part", and is seemingly all they need to convince themsleves they're the brave hero-saviours of humanity, rather than the enablers of fascism they actually are.

    It's precisely why the second cult exists - to provide an illusion of choice (E: and of impact), and make "the left" (I can't even type that without cracking up, but part of the cult is being convinced they are "the left") feel like they're fighting the establishment, when in reality, they're holding it up just as much as the other cult is, some might argue, even more, because they'll turn on those actually opposing fascism long before they'll dare be rude to fascists.

So you keep slapping them in the face with reality until they can't hide from it anymore, and they have to make a choice, pick a side, and be comfortable with their own decision, and the consequences it brings (including shock horror*, being called what they choose to be - right wingers and fascism enablers, meanwhile the rest of us have the consequences of said fascism to face).

    Leftists coddling liberal feeling is just as productive (E: to progress) as liberals coddling fascist feelings, that is to say - it isn't, at all. We're long past the point of prioritising privileged feelings over marginalised lives.

    They're grasping at any and every "he's not a nazi" straw they can find or make up, this just gives them another one to grasp to, because they wouldn't see or care about your intent, all they see is someone deliberately avoiding directly saying "musk is a nazi" or "what makes him a nazi is..", which is exactly their tactic and feeds in to their cognitive dissonance.

    You're giving him the degree of separation they're looking for, which he does not deserve.

    So again, I understand what you're trying to do, but I think that not explicitly saying "musk is a nazi because..." is counterproductive.

  • Yeah, I get where you're coming from, and I like your design (though agree it could be a little easier to read) but feel like this is playing in to the "he's not a nazi" narrative his supporters are trying to push, when he is in fact, a nazi, as well as a regime enabling industrialist. The two aren't mutually exclusive, and we should be calling the nazi spade a nazi spade at every opportunity.

    Also trying to compare the legitimate reactions of marginalised people to our lives being put under threat, that get framed by those with more privilege as an overreaction, to an actual overreaction by those with privilege to no threat whatsoever other than to that privilege is fucking gross and at best shows a complete misunderstanding of the gaslighting we face as marginalised people. At worst, it is actively participating in said gaslighting.

  • That's truly awful, I'm sorry you're having to find out who your friends and even family really are, and mostly, that they're getting you to doubt yourself so deeply.

    Trust your gut. These people are telling you who they are, listen. Don't put your life in their hands.

    I know it sounds impossible, or at least very difficult, but try and find or create a community of people who don't do that shit to you, who share your fears, or at the very least don't prioritise their own feelings and dismiss yours because they personally don't experience that kind of oppression and can see how absolutely terrifying the world is for marginalised people right now, and who are willing and ready to act in defence of one another and marginalised people at large.

    You are not alone, and your fears are valid and well founded

    There are many others like you out there, but they're probably just as scared as you are to reach out because they're getting the same shit from the privileged people in their lives, and are also doubting themselves and thinking they're alone too.

    This is the time to find our people, support each other, build community, and resist. It is our only option.

    E: I even said how I can see it being useful in some applications, but fuck, if I'm looking at the date it's almost certainly to see what day it is today, what day (and maybe month) an appointment is, what day some food is going off, stuff like that. I know what month and year it is right now, and if I want to know the time, I look at a clock, not a calendar. If they love extra and often unnecessary information so much they're free to use whatever format they want, but I'm good, and so are many others, and they just need to learn to be ok with that lmao
