  • HELP! How do I help educate my son about his body when I know nothing about boys?

  • As a father, I didn’t even know what to do or expect, we’re all messy, gross, and dumb at that age. The path I chose, was if they knew enough to ask a question, it was time for a discussion. Just pay attention, offer a safe environment for questions and be honest. Most of what they need to learn the world with teach them. Be there to fact check and maybe even learn together. Last tip… WE made biology gross and taboo, WE can make it less so for our kids.

  • IMHO by traveling. In my case I travelled a lot for work and was introduced to new places, people, and cultures (mostly micro cultures). Seeing how things are different from your local area gives perspective.

  • Sooo, can we not create and/or finance our own? Please be gentle…but…is there not enough of us paying for proton and other privacy apps to fund a floss or non-profit version? I mean there are tech nerds all over this place, along with law nerds and political nerds…etc..(meant with love btw) that would have an instant user base.

    I pledge here to sub up to $15usd/month for any lemmy person that starts an entity that provides us with what we need with ethics and morality of lemmy common.

  • I’m still reading guides but my initial thoughts on OS was Debian, but am reading one using proxmox. Anything I should be aware of with proxmox?

  • By average I mean, lots of folks have niche needs, while mine currently are generic, so I’m wondering what’s not necessarily the best but most common.

    My plex/Emby server is currently on a qnap ts563 and does not handle transcoding well. Looking to improve that with the n100 and move away from emby to try jellyfin. I keep plex because it works and I share servers with friends, but I’m curious about jellyfin.

    My daily driver is not going to be part of the new setup. It’s and older frankenbuilt pc with manjaro. If anyone has interesting ideas for the nas besides holding my media please do.

    I think a docker system would be best but any suggestions that encompass all this would be great. If I’m being vague it’s because I’ve always just copy pasted and read guides. I’m not as knowledgeable as I’d like to be yet.

  • Please stop with justifying things that are terrible for people and the world. If these items are needed for people with disabilities, you don’t take a natural container, remove it and cover it in plastic. The solution would be to create something that is created once and does the job required indefinitely.

  • Which do you prefer, TV series adaptations or movie adaptations?

  • With streaming the way it is, I would stop the chopping up of stories and start telling them in a new way. Shows are longer now and the quality difference is minimal, so just film and tell the story. Sitcoms and the like I get doing episodes but I think it’s time to review how stories are dispensed visually

  • How about, instead of calling people bootlicker, we suggest the person reevaluate their position and give them a chance to adjust their perspective. People tend to entrench themselves in their opinion when attacked. There isn’t any excuse for a person to lose their freedom because another wants to “make a point”. Sorry not poking anyone deliberately, just the dozenth or so post I’ve read that has been aggressive rather than educational. Lemmy is supposed to be better, we can keep it better together.
