  • I'm a biologist, undergrad was tons of memorizing lists of vaguely related words. Since it's an additive list and it's literally the only thing I'd have to do, 100+ at least. 200+ if it forms any sort of coherent sentence. Every day, all I'd be doing is practicing the previous list and learning one new word.

Edit: for giggles, I calculated how much you'd earn at 100 days, then 200. The formula is T= 1000(n(n+1))/2 for anyone who is curious.

    At 100 days, you'd have $5,050,000.

    At 200, $20,100,000.

  • I'd take fur just to be warmer. I'm cold ALL the time.

  • Just dropping solid, cubic poops like a wombat would work wonders on the clean anus front.

  • It somewhat is for me, my partner takes days or weeks to click my links.

  • If you want an alternative, lab label tape is a bit pricy but is super durable, comes in fun colors, doesn't leave residue, and sticks for practically forever.

  • As the vast majority of people have no clue and no interest in utilizing those tools.

I can't agree more. A few family members got really paranoid about their communications being monitored after Trump was elected again, so I offered to show them Signal or Element. Nah, no interest, "too hard". They still text even with the fucking US government itself warning people it's a very insecure medium.

I'm hoping that disinterest changes after a few people get locked up based on social media PMs, but don't have all that much hope.

  • Yeah, this thing is super inaccessible. Damn you, Gates!

You nailed it: I inspected the grub.cfg on the install media, which gave me the required parameters to get my hacked together install partition working. After that, it was really easy!

  • Unfortunately no, it's an SSD (post updated) and it's soldered in place. Plus this thing is the least accessible non-phone/tablet device I've ever seen. I'd need to use a heat gun and a few prying tools to take it apart. That's why the USB controller remains unfixed, I'm more likely to cause more damage to it.

  • That's brilliant! I got it to work, but the lack of functioning USB port means my future recovery options are limited. I'm installing this with a barebones linux install ISO, just in case things get weird. Thank you!

  • All my programs install straight into c: directories are for the weak.

  • I'd prefer to feed them but I'm sure we can find volunteers to feel them too.

  • Mr. Rogers was better than we deserved.

  • This looks AWESOME! As an ADHD squirrel, I'm super excited about this. I have zero programming skill, but I'll happily test the hell out of it.

  • I suppose you and I have different notions of what defines smart. Being "brainwashed" into supporting something that someone of even middling intelligence can see is overwhelmingly stupid suggests a lack of the most basic critical thinking skills, which I would not say suggests any notable degree of intelligence.

  • As someone who did both of those things, I caution you to be sure not to conflate educated with intelligent. I have met many very well educated, astoundingly stupid people in academia and industry. Some of the most educated people I've met were as dumb as a sack of hammers, they just had the right mix of personality traits and privilege to help them succeed in a system that above all else requires opportunity, dedication, and time.

  • Nah, I'm not that old. My dad was in tech so I got to see a lot of neat old stuff growing up.
