  • Don't even get me started on ridiculous ones; like Spider man becoming a literally a spider, then felt an instinct to come up to the Spider Queen offering himself to be eaten, then the Spider Queen's stomach burst open only for a new and shiny Peter Parker/Spiderman come out alive as if he had never become a spider. Then, there is Batman becoming addicted to drugs and telling Alfred to lock him up in the Batcave for weeks to detox.

This is why I generally only read critically acclaimed plot lines and stories than having a general comic interests.

  • Here's hoping GOG will still be around when that time comes.

  • Well, I won't be playing Battlefield ever again.

  • Yahweh was originally a Levant god of war.

  • I've lived next to a volcano, I've experienced poverty, I've seen crimes, my house got flooded, I've seen corruption; I have pretty much under reaction to many things.

  • Metal Gear Solid 2 menu theme. The digital sound fits with the main menu motif like a glove, and evokes a sense of mystery and foreboding of what is to come. And boy, you are in for a surprise!

  • Wearing tracksuits in Ireland as regular day clothing. They are not nearly as common now as they were before, but many young people still wear them because they're comfortable and cheap. I remember German foreign exchange students asking the teacher why do Irish people always go to gym because of the tracksuits.

  • Not if you're from Bahstahn.

  • Ditto. I only know about Charlie Kirk from the memes, and these memes don't paint him positively so I got the idea that he's a right wing nutjob, which is not wrong seeing as what he spouted when he was alive.

  • I have a school friend whom I probably won't consider a close friend anymore except only on Facebook. He keeps posting far right content even though he himself is an immigrant. I had an ex-coworker who is posting ultra religious stuff, anti-lgbt and anti-Palestine.

  • Not entirely sure where my cousin gets his information. He may be mostly getting it from social media. But it is possible that he still watches traditional news. Although, the traditional news in my home country reports about the US here and there. My mom still mostly watch news from our home country, but even she doesn't know about the ICE arrests.

  • I know Lemmy is gonna say "stop being addicted to your phone" but like I'm asking this question with more of a like "fuck corporate" attitude

I gained a reputation in my work as someone always glued to the phone, even when walking home. Not that I care much about what others think, but in my defense, I am trading stocks. I toned down using my phone because I got called out by my supervisor as it had affected my work performance. In my role, we have lots of downtime in between the tasks and using phone is allowed so long as we do the job properly. Anyhow, not that I mind much what they think of me because my plan for early retirement is more important than my company needs who could eventually throw you under the bus 😝 I know companies don't always appreciate long time employees so why should I give 110%? Some people give too much to companies but not me.

  • The case revealed Google continued gathering user data via Firebase, a monitoring database embedded in 97% of top Android apps and 54% of leading iOS apps, even after users disabled data collection

This is why we can't have nice things.

  • I searched for my topics of interest and hobbies but barely got any hit.

Oh yeah, it is worth noting that Nebula doesn't have as many options as in YouTube, I'm afraid. That is the limitation of platform. New content creators do come in to Nebula but not as often as it would be on YouTube.

Personally, I love nebula because it does have the topics I am interested in, which is mainly history, news, video games and politics. There are also long form video essays on variety of topics. I would say that Nebula is more like nerdy because of prevalence of those topics. I haven't come across Nebula videos that are more niche like, let's say, woodworking or metalworking etc. I do photography but I think there is only one Nebula content creator that does photography.

  • What about Nebula? It's paid subscription but you can pay for once off lifetime subscription for $300, and the content creators even encourage users to opt for the latter. Edit: wording

  • Imagine the amount of caffeine in just one pint of glass.

  • More like, under new management.

  • I guess I have a different understanding of frugal. For me, you can be rich and yet frugal, only spending money on the needs and occasional wants. Some people don't even show that they're net worth increased. I forgot the name of the person, but he worked as a janitor throughout his life. When he passed away, to his family's utter surprise, he left $8 million from his investment account to his family. The guy could have cashed in the investment profits and lived lavishly but he didn't.

  • And 65% of today's dollars is going to get less and less valuable as the years go on.

That's why it's crucial to invest as early as possible. Investing outpaces the rate of inflation. I wish I had learned more about it when I was younger.

    Edit: added info
