  • I usually stay up and read books late at night or game. Just not usually movies.

Edit: Young kids in sports just suck up a significant amount of time.

  • That’s the plan! I’m just never alone! Part of the problem is that I want to watch it all in one sitting, which is extra difficult.

  • I’d add Saving Private Ryan to the list.

The opening sequence is just abhorrent and showcases the reality of war far better than any other war movie I have seen.

  • Gah, I’ve tried to sit down and watch Flow on like 3 occasions. The lack of dialogue is a dealbreaker for my wife and kids. I got about halfway through it once and really enjoyed it!

  • I think just Charge Cube is what my wife and I call it.

  • Cubes.

  • I’m running a Roll20 campaign for 7 players who are gearing up for a fight with a human who can change size at will.

This is set in the One Piece universe, I assume you’re familiar with it.

I want them to control a giant mecha to fight him on “equal” terms as a final fight.

Got any good RPG systems that might help with that?

Have a lot of players and they are good about following homebrew rules - and I expect this to be a one time mech fight.

I’ll probably add a mechanic for someone to “pilot” the mech and use their Devil Fruit/Haki to affect the entire mech as a full action that gives some sort of stat bonus.

Also btw I love Frieren. It’s so good! The manga is also incredible. Dandadan is fantastic too, and along with TTGL, has inspired this boss fight for me.

  • I’m gonna be real, I actually don’t see anything against any of these questions in the sidebar except your first question about technical matters.

  • I think this question varies greatly depending on your current salary, if you have dependents, and what your cost of living looks like.

  • Tell me about it. Gurren Lagann is probably my favorite show of all time and if you can’t look past the fan service you miss out on a really great show with a great message.

Edit: fan service is icky and my least favorite part of anime.

  • It is funny to me though, because my wife and I are this meme in our TV show preferences.

  • There are definitely still some good ones out there, but you have to wade through the stuff you don’t like.

  • I mean really I think a lot of adults have issues with “fan service.” At least it’s been a problem when I try to get into an anime sometimes. Looking at you Fire Force.

  • I think part of that is because a significant number of /r/Piracy users on Reddit left because db0 was a mod there and advocated for swapping Lemmy during the API blackouts.

  • I plead the 5th.

  • My state has piss poor roads.

Every time I leave my state the roads are noticeably smoother and less noisy.

It’s very distinct and almost comical.

  • Completely agree. The orchestral shift still produced great songs, but the synth music has a special place in my heart.

  • Presidium and Uncharted Worlds are also really good.

M4 Faunts is genuinely one of my favorite credits songs too. Mass Effect soundtrack is just way too good.

  • Vigil - Mass Effect

The End Run from Mass Effect 2 is also high up there.

Recency bias, but Lumiere from Expedition 33 is also incredible.
