  • basically how gender-war most dating has become.

before social media i never really dealt with women or dated women who were did the whole 'you are a man, i am a woman' bullshit. but now it's like all i ever deal with and since i am not willing to basically pay women to date me I don't really date anymore, since every woman in my city i meet has decided she has a price tag to date her and any man that isn't spending $1000s on her 'doesn't value her', and they all expect you to be a millionaire. seriously, my last dozen short term relationships all ended because the woman basically said 'pay up if you want to keep seeing me' and I said no thanks.

it's so transactional, it's gross. i won't even go into the ' a real man must make all the decisions in the relationship' nonsense, that also seems to be having a HUGE uptick this decade. i'm not interested in dating a toddler in an adult body and being a daddy, thanks.

i never dealt with any of this in the 2000s or 2010s. women wanted to be your partner and pay their own way.

  • a ton of users don't claim to be anti-capitalist.

being anti-capitalist is performative outside of those who are living off grid or dumpster diving anyway.

  • I got another ps5 controller, some coffee, some snacks, and a new bike headlight. most sales of stuff i wanted was like 10-20 bucks off, nothing significant. the coffee was the best deal, 30% off which saved me like $50.

  • Bingo. I basically think about what I"m going to buy in the next six months and list it up and then buy it on black friday if it's below the normal price. And usually it is.

I just bought 6 bags of $25 coffee for $15 each. Bought a bunch of summer stuff that I will use next year. Saved 60 bucks on what I was going to buy anyway. Didn't buy any games this year because nothing I wanted was more than $10 off and it will be cheaper after the holidays, but most years I buy all my gaming stuff for the year on black friday.

  • Yeah, it does happen, but it's mostly shitty companies that do that.

  • Depends on what you are buying. PC/gaming stuff, yeah this year sucked. sports stuff? amazing deals to be had.

  • I'm sorry you only buy stupid crap on black friday. I stock on on useful shit I used throughout the year and wait to make large purchases so I can save $100s. I've saved like $5000 over the past 5 years with black friday deals on stuff I was going to buy/need anyway.

  • lemmy is small and tolerant of dissent. people are are more independent and they are forming tribes so much. as it gets bigger people will tolerate it less.

some of the instances however, are full of tribal nutcases who are only interested in being ideological pure. but the mostly keep to themselves, which is nice. though i will say it's annoying ot have to constnatly block crap from the main page from this instances. when i first joined lemmy 60% of my general content was lgbt furry linux weirdos.

  • save money. make good choices that provide you with long term benefit, exercise your body and mind. ignore short term impulses and invest in yourself, not other people. build your future day by day, don't hope that it magically comes one day.

and ignore other people. way too many people are obsessed with what other people think of them and trying to impress them, and that's why they make themselves miserable doing shit that is harmful to their well being.

every miserable/anxious person i meet is always obsessing about what other people think about them and trying to impress strangers and feels like they are 'struggling' because they aren't as rich as somebody else. constantly agonizing over this or that meaningless brass ring they are chasing that will just leave them seeking another one.

  • nah bro, you don't understand. you and anyone penis having adjacent are personally liable for the actions of every man...

    or so feminist theory says.

weird though that when a woman rapes a kid, or beats someone, or murders someone... not all women are responsible for her actions... she's just some lone psycho..

  • people who blame you for the actions of others are idiots and dicks.

stop feeling guilty by association, have some pride in yourself.

  • the texture changes depending on how ripe it is. like a banana.

  • i mean, have you tried either?

helping your community is a task of endless need and criticism that opens you up to personal liability and attack. like i have been verbally assaulted and threatened by people for helping my community. i've never encounter that at my place of employment.

earning lots of money and buying shit is way more fun and easy. when i stay at a hotel the hotel staff don't threaten to beat the shit out of me.

  • nuanced discussion doesn't excite/stimulate the nervous system the way self-righteous simplified discussion does.

  • have you tried being richer? i hear that drastically changes how your insurance feels about your operations.

  • That I am stress free and happy. I spent most of my life being stressed out as hell, worrying any mistake I made would ruin my life and I'd be homeless.

It's weird because all my peers are getting way more stressed and unhappy as they age. I can't really relate to them anymore.

  • there are also just way more male incels than female incels by the nature of sex and biology. if you have 50K male incels and 5K female incels, and only .01% are violent, then you will have 50 male incidents and 5 female ones. but statisically that does not mean male incels are 10x more violent, it's just numbers. incels probably are less violent than non incels, on average, as much of their inceldom comes from their passivity and fear.

last i checked there was never an epidemic of incels. it's like a few random incidents, far suppressed by school shootings, which are basically weekly at this point in the USA. but it gets way more press time because of the controversial gender stuff that ragebaits people. at this point nobody cares if another 10 year old kills 6 of his classmates, that's boring and mundane, but if some 17 year old knife stabs 3 people with an incel rant, that's exciting and novel. mass violence needs a 'hate' element for the media to generate attention these days.

  • No. I don't like lazy/easy humor, like one-liners and dad jokes and toilet humor.

I like satire and absurdist humor mostly, which alienates people because it requires knowledge of what it is satirizing.

I also like comics who insult everyone mercilessly and don't pull any punches, which is not very popular in the 'sensitivity' climate we have nowadays where certain groups are 'prohibited' from being mocked, or people who think political comedy must be one-sided only.

  • do i? or am i simple pointing out the fault of this kind of thinking where a person demands other people treat people a certain way, but refuses themselves to follow the social obligations they demand of others?

but hey, i get in many online people's words hypocrisy is considered normal and non-hypocrisy freaks them out as abnormal
