  • Not for science fiction literature, guitar pedals, and synthesizers which was primarily what I went to Reddit for in the first place. There was some effort to get those communities going here back during the mass migration here from Reddit, but they've never really thrived. It sucks, but I'm not going back. I take a peek at r/synthesizers on occasion, and really it's just a gaggle of self-promoting synthtubers and umpteen iterations of "what should I buy?".

  • I finished Battlefield Earth.

The thing is, I remember enjoying it. I mean, it wasn't literature, but it was a lot of dumb fun.

  • Beetlecrab Audio Tempera is the most inspiring electronic musical instrument I own. I got it in April, and I'm still finding new ways to use it. It does so much.

Oxi One really is the hardware sequencer to rule them all. Though I'm sure you could get by with a Hapax or Deluge if you don't mind spending twice as much.

Not a purchase, but Csound has always been an invaluable companion to my music making process. It's also entirely free and open-source.

  • squirreled

It's the longest one-syllable word last time I checked. Pretty ridiculous that it is one syllable honestly.

  • It's been a very long time since I watched it, but I distinctly recall being very annoyed by her character. I just checked out the Wiki, and the very first line on her personality is "[she] possesses an extremely childish and naïve attitude for her age." While not stupid exactly , is just about what I recall hating about her.

  • This one happened during a period when moe was more brain-dead than cute, and the sister character who is supposed to be his motivation for everything just ruins the whole show for me she acts so stupid.

  • Works great for me. Definitely not as many seeders as they were during it's heyday, but still a decent number. I've downloaded a couple semi-obscure films in the past couple of months and they downloaded just fine in an hour-or-two even with only one seed.

  • The story of Baby Shark is kind of interesting. It used to be a camp song in the 90s. It didn't become ridiculously popular until the infamous YouTube video that everyone knows. Various people and institutions have tried to sue for ownership, but it was ruled public domain. Anyone can release their own version of Baby Shark if they want.

  • Not my workplace exactly, but I used to hang out with this Kiwi who worked as a foreign English teacher in Korea in the same small Korean city as me. The foreigner community was fairly close-knit because there was only 50ish of us.

We all knew him. Everyone liked him. Fun guy. A little weird sometimes. He never told anyone his last name. The end of his pinkie finger was missing and if you asked him about it, he always said a shark bit it off.

One vacation about two years into his tenure, he decided to take a trip to Las Vegas. He never came back. I'm not 100% on the details past this point, but what I heard was they stopped him from entering the US because he was wanted in New Zealand on 37 counts of distributing child pornography. He was basically extradited back there and as far as I know went to prison. His trail disappears there.

  • I like to include profanity in all my comments for spiciness.

  • I'd like to thank this thread for reminding me to check out some new music. Just today, I have discovered MJ Lenderman and Still House Plants who both seem to be doing some cool stuff that's right up my alley. There's a new Mogwai track released a few days back and Sumac just released an amazing sludge metal album, even though I'm not really into sludge, it might convert me. A quick few image searches shows me that none of them are particularly attractive. Music has always been, and always will be awesome regardless of the physical appeal of the lead singers.

  • I guess I can see the appeal of that. But it's pretty fun feeling like a nail salon samurai, too.

  • Pretty sure they're just incredibly sharp. The Japanese like to sharpen things.

  • I bought a nice pair of fingernail clippers. ~$15 Green Bell from Japan. You hardly have to apply any force to the lever at all, and the nail just slices off neatly and falls inside. Not like my old cheapo pair that went "KACHONK" and endangered anyone in my vicinity of shrapnel injuries.

  • That's encouraging. Wind Waker might be my favorite.

  • Grainstorm

It's a ridiculously versatile granular sampler synthesizer. Obviously not for everyone, but it's super fun to just make weird soundscapes with. Even with just your phone mic.

  • Hmm. That doesn't sound particularly enjoyable. I haven't played a Zelda game since Skyward Sword, and that one really rubbed me the wrong way. Formulaic and dull. I suppose that's why the next entry made such drastic changes. I might just emulate BotW someday to see what all the fuss is about.

  • I've got it up and running in Yuzu with prod.keys 18.0. At least I watched the opening cinematic. Not that interested in playing. Just seeing if it was true.
