My name is Matt. I enjoy helping people with technology related issues. I also like adorable animals.

O! had I the ability, and could I reach the nation’s ear, I would, today, pour out a fiery stream of biting ridicule, blasting reproach, withering sarcasm, and stern rebuke. For it is not light that is needed, but fire; it is not the gentle shower, but thunder. We need the storm, the whirlwind, and the earthquake. The feeling of the nation must be quickened; the conscience of the nation must be roused; the propriety of the nation must be startled; the hypocrisy of the nation must be exposed; and its crimes against God and man must be proclaimed and denounced.

  • Which, this solves a lot of Windows issues even if you don't use Linux.

  • If you're handy, you could try making your own! https://youtu.be/K1T1eMyPIC4

I know you said avoiding Logitech namly, but the Logitech C920 is one of the most recommended webcams because of the price, quality, and features (physical privacy cover, FoV, etc.). The other benefit of having a popular webcam (or any PC hardware) is it means better software support.

    Otherwise, there is a c920 clone Aukey PC-LM1E 1080p

  • Oh that's nice, I didn't realize the plate swap had new buttons with it. I've been tempted to look into it more but it felt daunting - even with a decent amount of experience pulling stuff apart

  • Back button "enhancement set".

Hated the stock back buttons and just never used them because they lined up exactly with the joint on my finger.

These just stick on with some 3M tape (definitely clean prior to application) and my fingers rest on the buttons now - and they're way easier to click.

I also grabbed some thumb stick cover things, but those aren't as "game changing"

  • Beautiful

  • Same sentiment - I've been looking at some alternatives like the Legion Go or Asus's variant and putting SteamOS on it - but I'd really rather stick with Valve's own hardware if possible.

  • Looks interesting - how is the game loop since it's a rogue-like? Tedious, or does it feel pretty rewarding?

  • Game informer is back‽ Exciting

  • Yes

  • Holy shit, that's incredible.

"And also.... It was loud as hell"

  • F4mi is great, definitely check out the web-cam video when you have a chance! One of my favorites

  • Valid point, good clarification!

  • $70M "vanishes" to print pennies each year as it costs nearly 4¢ to make 1 penny. (Doesn't actually vanish, some goes to penny maker's pockets* - see reply below)

Does the president really have the power to stop penny printing?

    Maybe.

The president is to execute laws passed by congress. Congress passes vague laws.

One example is what coins to print. However, how many to print is left out, just that it should be "the necessary amount"

So Trump decided that the necessary amount was 0.

However, if Congress disagrees with the interpretation, then it goes to the courts.

The courts will ask if there is a precedent.. which for the penny specifically - there isn't really.

Existing precedent is about rarely used speciality / collector coins which previous presidents used the same method to reduce / eliminate production.

So maybe this will kill the penny, but also maybe not. If it does kill the penny, it could set an interesting precedent for future presidents to kill off anything congress hasn't been explicit on.

... I hope all my president / precedents are correct lol.

  • Why can't this be the timeline where Bill and Ted bring peace and harmony (and mini golf scores way down).

  • Leave it off for a few days and stick it near a dehumidifier if you have one. As long as it stays off until it's completely dry it should be okay.

Agree with the other commenter that rice isn't the best bet. Even if nothing 'bad' happens, it can get stuck in the heat sink and/or get moldy if you don't get it all out.

If you're really worried, you could take the shell off the deck off and dry the inside.

  • Works on boost

  • The section on parlays really rang true for me. Our Fantasy football friend group has multiple guys who will post just insane 6+ leg parlays and say stuff like "Damn, I was so close!"

They justify it because it's only a few dollars, but would pay out a ton. Feels no different than scratchers to me.

It also got so bad with people only posting their wins that there's a 'rule' now that you have to post the bet when you make it, not after it hits.

Like Drew, I lost ~$50 a few years back and haven't touched it since. But I've seen more and more friends get into it.

I'm just waiting for the eventual "refer a friend bonus and get $x in free bets" to be posted on our chat. Wouldn't expect anything less from betting companies than combing gambling with a pseudo pyramid scheme.
