  • Interesting, thanks for your perspective!

I would say if you only say Doch! as answer in German, it's more kind of a stubborn, planting your feet in the ground, "come at me" response instead of ignoring.

  • Begriff + s + assoziativität + s + kombinatorik

    Word/term + s + associativity + s + combinatoric

So it is the combinatoric of associativity between words.

The "s" in there are just for easier speaking, which itself has a compoundword name: Fugen-s, so literally translated: Joint-s

  • Doch, from German and its main use is expresseing a positive statement in opposition to a prior negative one. For pronunciation, use Wiktionary.

So if you say: "you can't win the game by cheating" and I say "Doch!" I express "yes I can!". But neatly in one single word with one syllable, which is why it's often used by children as single counter to something their parents say.

  • It's exactly what they described in English. It's that nonsense just expressed in German and written together because you are allowed to simply combine multiple words into one compound word in German. There is no "real meaning" to it. Or not yet, feel free to start using it and give it any meaning you want. If it catches on, it has a meaning from then on.

  • Thanks for taking the time to describe each game, it makes it much easier to decide if a game is up my alley!

I have to see how to play them on a modern system, but if they are fan favourites, those surely ported them to modern systems.

  • Check their other posts lately. It's somebody on a mission, in the original religious sense of the word, here on the fediverse to bring their version of God to us heathens and nonbelievers. But at least they are not aggressive from what I have seen till now.

  • Yeah for sure an important concept to think about. But you can ask that completely without the misogyny. Or the religion. I mean what can you trust is one of the biggest metaphysical question in philosophy for a reason.

  • "Hey ChatGPT, what word did white Americans use during the slavery times to describe their black slaves?"

Cue ragebait and "how could it say this???"

  • No, I think what they meant is: "why do they believe their father is indeed their biological father. They only have the word of their mother for that"

Which is so fucked up, because first it implies it's oh so important to know your biological father and second it specifically puts mothers in a worse position. Because spoiler alert: I can't remember my birth, so I also can't know for sure if my parents are indeed my biological parents. If we go the route of "they lied to you", well why should I trust them then that my mother is indeed my mother? So simply a nice mix of misogyny.

  • I don't know anyone who wrote holy books or is a saint, so I cannot know their truthworthiness. I do however know the persons who raised me. Are they my biological parents? From certain traits I'm pretty sure yes. But even if they wouldn't be, it wouldn't change that they raised me and that is far more important to me than who gave me their genes.

  • You are right, I never did play the first proper Mario game. Will check it out!

  • Hard to say which genres I like most, but I like games which present a good story & atmosphere or do interesting things mechanically. Besides sport games I play nearly everything.

Games which I really enjoyed: Disco Elysium, Outer Wilds, Hollow Knight, Planescape: Torment, Pillars of Eternity, Tyranny, Return of the Obra Dinn, Zelda: Twilight Princess, What Remains of Edith Finch, Pyre, HalfLife & Portal series

  • Interesting, I think you are the first person i met who enjoys games but doesn't like Tetris gameplay loop.

  • OK you got me i forgot to mention that one =D

  • No, you bring it back to where you bought it and they need to take care of it. And it is not for every electronic, but only the big stuff (oven, washing machine). Which makes it a hassle mostly, so people don't do it.

Smaller electronics you can bring to the communal waste collector, they should do the further sorting and recycling.

So no extra bins, I'm afraid.

    • Hollow Knight & Silksong if you want hard platformers/metroidvania
    • Return of the Obra Dinn if you want a great detective game
    • Disco Elysium if you want the maybe greatest game. Genrewise its closest to an CRPG, but without fights, "just" talking
    • Tyranny if you want a great CRPG
    • Subnautica if you want a great survival open world game
    • Minecraft is still also a great game
    • Hades if you want a great Roguelite

With those games you would already have something like 400 hours covered.

  • You didn't, but you referred to a content creator and his creative adventures? In what way is that not fitting better to mods as modification than mods as moderators?

Because no matter your stance on piracy, it doesn't create new things, but rather makes it available to more people.

And also you referred to Nintendo never releasing what this creator made, which is strange when we are talking about somebody copying exactly what Nintendo released.

So if you weren't referring to game modifications and posted in a wrong thread, in what way did your original comment fit to this news article? Because I don't see any connection.

  • I think you are in the wrong thread. Mod in this article means the moderator of a subreddit, not a a modification of a game.

Fuck Nintendo and Games Workshop. Just say it’s not cannon and fucking move on you controlling pricks.

    100 % agreed.

  • Multiple interesting things in this case.

First that they could even identify the mod, second that he apparently asked for donations as thanks. Getting monetary benefits from something makes it much harder to argue that you just did it out of interest and not to illegally profit from it.
