  • im only still on my first playthrough and at 300 hours and just finishing a massive 36x8 block of fuel generators running the nitro rocket fuel recipe. i chose this over nuclear because it seems that nuclear is massively inefficient by comparison albeit easier to set up but on the other hand i never have to touch my power again and i have 70kmw at my disposal.

  • What about meetup.com or other similar websites?

    Through that I found a network of people in my area doing niche things on fediverse and other platforms, theres things near me for like coding bootcamp meetup that is a professional networking event basically, and another that is a group of tech related groups that basically function as a local city think tank for improving the area, a couple of these actually but the others I only just recently learned about.

    Through stuff like this I found some people running for senate which makes sense in hindsight but was super surprising.

    I think meetup is still pretty full in general of groups of old people doing hikes and thst sort of thing though lol but it got me on the path of finding some niches which I had no idea could exist but now I know exist in most cities if we look for them.

    If I recall there are a couple meetup-like fediverse platforms popping up now, one of them is actually made by one of the people I found through these irl channels.

    I would remind everyone again to be the change we want to see in the world except I haven't really done this myself so thats hypocritical lol

    I'm not in a huge city either so I'd expect even more in a actually big city.

  • I know reddit sucks and all but check out if your local cities have subreddits or if there are any similar groups on other platforms, usually they are at least somewhat active and always have meetups or groups on other platforms such as discord going or whatever else, people there tend to be sociable in person and still understand internet culture. there are a few of such lemmy communities but not nearly as much as reddit at the moment, that could also be a opportunity for y'all btw if you start your own.

  • That just seems like doing anything to improve the present state since the more you work your ability to improve the present state the less effort it should be later and so relaxing should be more easily done.

  • Yeah I don't understand why everyone is gate keeping open source all the sudden, there is a line to be drawn between openly changeable and open to being understood, the understanding part is all I want from things because then I can tell if its actually bad or not and that is the part we mostly care about.

    Its ok to not like futo because you don't agree with some of their peoples politics but that's an entirely different thing.

  • If you are getting oily from moisturizer you are using too much. We should all be moisturizing after a shower because this locks in the moisture we just dunked ourselves in as well as beefs up the moisture barrier so our skin is more resilient to germs and whatever else

  • I think the issue is that mathematical logical thinking is what needs to be taught, like that everything can be described as equations.

    The teachers put too much emphasis on formulas and notation and equations and so we are led to believe that math is only about rote memory of math grammar and so it never makes sense.
