  • We also asked for your favourite anarchist or pirate. We're not just techie :)

In case you didn't know, OSS stands for Open Source Software, like Firefox, Linux, Lemmy etc ;)

  • I'd argue earlier. Before the largest digg exodus. 2010 already had custom subs and supported some niche comms

  • Yes, we have way higher percentage of neurodivergent people here and I love it.

  • I could arrange that somehow as being able to reply with memegens was part of the original idea. But you might still end up with a bad 1shot.

  • "These guys" being me :)

There's no way to get pwned by the horde ,as it's pull-mode only. You don't get arbitrary code to run. It's perfectly safe.

  • Yes the AI Horde has a list of available models (close to 200 I think?) and we keep curating that list often. But people can also run custom models or even private ones if they ask us for it.

If you have a good enough GPU, you can add it to the horde to let your friends seamlessly use its compute through more powerful UIs like Artbot, and support services like the @[email protected] bot you just used ;)

  • Feel free to use

  • the former

  • Python and gdscript. Python because it makes programming quick and fun. Gdscript because it's basically python.

EDIT: I use python for everything. I builld the Fediseer, Threativore, AI Horde, and a loooot of other programs and services with it,

  • There can be warning about someone getting caught with multiple failed attempts

  • "Having manual ways to remove csam" means almost nothing. All of lemmy has a "manual way to remove csam". "closely working with NCMEC" can mean they just use the cloudflare mechanism which is just hash matching. Point is, it's very easy for a malicious actor to upload csam and then report them to patreon for it, without ever reporting it to them.

  • Sorry your links don't work it seems. Maybe those posts were deleted.

In any case, if their "automated" is just hash matching, it's just not going to cut it.

  • I wonder what kind of of csam detection they have. If they're only relying on hash matching, they've gonna get fucked from novel genai csam. This is why stuff like the fedi-safety exists which they could use as well

  • Ye I know that there's a lot of self-fulfillment coming from FOSS work. It's why I do it even though I'm not getting paid. However being in Luxembourg, even market competitive rates are barely affordable, and good vibes doesn't pay my rent, so alas if our org had enough money to pay someone, I would personally still have to continue with the wage work.

It's unfortunate that people give so much to for-profits, but people doing things that are objectively better for the world, have to tighten their belts to get by.

Anyway, thank you for your time. You explained pretty much what has been my observations in the FOSS space. I agree with all your takes. Perhaps in the future Framasoft and Haidra might be able to collaborate.

  • Sure, it does look like you were at the right place at the right time indeed and then could continue from there. Having a dedicated communications person is also in my impression very important, but alas they're not as easy to find for FOSS projects.

Could you be able to elaborate what kind of wages you pay your staff? Are they market competitive, or below market rates for the same roles?
