  • I don’t think optical fiber cables do patch through. They’re basically just point to point. This port also doesn’t seem to do anything optic-wise. Or even copper for that matter. The ports don’t seem to have anything behind them.

Edit: wait I think I see two holes that could be for that

  • I should have specified but this was found in a conference room of a really old building. It was on the same wall as the TV. It would be pretty unusual to have two USB-A ports. I’m leaning towards them being network ports since those are usually run in pairs

  • I blocked this community a while ago so I don’t accidentally view/comment on it

  • I’ve been running my Proxmox in suicide raid configuration for a year now and have only procrastinated this far because I can’t fix my TrueNAS replication tasks… and my proxmox machine is over the 1/2 full mark

  • I think Markov tarpits have also been floated here

  • maybe they should set up Anubis.

  • My friends joke about me being autistic (e.g. last get together) and I have to remind them I am not. I am really just poorly socially trained, which has the difference of being better at with time. Thing is, I talk to almost no one, so I am basically a baby raised by wolves. This is coupled with my social anxiety, but I am usually outgoing once I remove that limiter.

  • isn’t yandex Russian owned?

  • OpenSUSE Tumbleweed

  • Same lol, but some people swear by it

  • I don’t think I could go back to Windows 10 permanently to do any non-web based work. I couldn’t even touch Windows 11. It’s so disgusting compared to my KDE plasma desktop on OST.

  • When will Microsoft care about all the P2W servers that get kids addicted to gambling

  • well it probably doesn’t matter, since corporations are the ones buying it all up and you really can’t intimidate those soulless bastards

  • I’m in the US so I was able to snag a lot of stuff for like $150 usd off eBay. Though my first home server was actually a mini PC which was only like $100 and is super power efficient, only using like 10-15 watts. The biggest downside though of that is that is only has two NVME slots and no SATA, because it’s a mini PC.

    • buy a cheap atx case with >= 4 3.5” drive bays
    • buy a mini itx mb with like 4/5 SATA ports or however you want. Btw pcie SATA hbas exist. This future proofs drives. You can also get pcie NVMe adapters or buy a MB with NVMe ports. Mini itx for the power efficiency. Beware RAM limits on some MBs.
    • throw a 6000 or preferably 9000 series and onwards intel chip in there. Anything before that will have poor efficiency. Good thing about this is the socket FGA1151(??) is supports a wide range of years
    • 16 gb ram min. Believe me. You’ll run out.
    • for PSU, go with Corsair. Only buy tested ones with all the original cables. I recommend looking at Cybenetic’s PSU efficiency numbers. I have a Corsair PSU.
    • put proxmox on it. Containerize everything if you’re low on RAM or CPU.

  • Can you ID where this guy lives using OSINT? Even just the location of his house is enough if you don’t know his name.

  • I freeze it. Takes 1-2 minutes to reheat.

  • Surely, he’s looking for the menu’s vegetarian offerings?

  • debian 12's KDE is stable in the sense that it's instability doesn't change XD. I remember the constant kscreenlocker krashes. I'm on 6.4.5 now and it's a much better experience.
