  • dude... I have an interaction that would make heads spin. I could not for the life of me figure out why this person was being hostile, and they would not tell me, finally I just gave up and moved on. When my socio/emotional tools are broken I have no fucking clue what I am doing and the results can be spectacular from a distance.

  • Honestly moving to a KDE desktop environment along with any well maintained Linux distro will feel like going back to Windows 7 but now with modern powershell

    There will always be a few things different like not needing to download apps from websites. But most of the rest will feel normal.

  • Nearly everything you are talking about is easy and built into the vast majority of desktop linux distributions, and more than a few server ones too!

    RDP: Remmina, KDE (windows like Desktop Environment)

    Hyper-V: KVM+QEMU, but im going to ask why? There are very few reasons to do full virtual machines these days when you can just run everything as containers.

    RAID5: use ZFS Z5 or linux mdadm r5. The advantages of ZFS is that you get lots of tools like snapshots, and reslivering which helps prevent bit rot.

    Depending on your hardware I would honestly suggest your host OS be Proxmox, and then just run your gaming/personal system as a VM with GPU pass through. Proxmox has all the KVM+QEMU tools and ZFS tools baked in with a good web UI that makes managing these things easier.

  • Dive weights and belts are generally Lead and I have seen them used in other applications too. if you search for steel ones they come up on Amazon and other sites.

  • They do make weighted vests and dumbbells with other materials but they generally cost more. So if you dont like bulky sand then try spending a bit more to get something with steel/lead/tungsten.

  • I had a really bad day a few months ago, and two of them were ready to get on a plane that afternoon if I had needed it. I dont know of any other game where I could find my people, and that would build a support group, and friend group willing to put everything on hold for each other. So yeah if I could relive the experience of undocking, flying around, and meeting my friends for spreadsheets, shenanigans, and space ships I would.

    So many amazing memories, staying up too late, getting a text message to drop everything and log in, fleet battles with nothing but silent professionalism on voice, logging into the test server and spending hours on meta tactics and ship loadouts, drunken ice mining in low sec, 5 person frigate gangs ransoming capital ships. That game, and that time had something special for all of us.

  • hey, no kink shaming! Its just one of, not my only, and it gave me my best friends, even after we all quit the game we remain dedicated and close.

  • Eve online that first year was one of the most amazing experiences of my life and undocking and flying around that first time is a feeling I would choose to do again.

  • I moved to OnShape since its web based I can use it in linux without issues. FreeCAD is good, but it randomly was slow on my laptop and I cant figure out whats wrong :(
