  • No not all socialism is democratic. Libertarian socialism is by definition non-violent. You cannot be libertarian while also advocating for violence against others.

  • Democratic socialism? Libertarian socialism?

  • I will admit, we are getting onto our second or third option at this point, but people calling for armed revolution do not truly understand the impact that would have on society in the short term, and also how insanely difficult to impossible that idea actually is in modern American society. Democratic socialist ideas are only just starting to gain support now because liberalism has proven to be so ineffectual for long and it is a potential electoral path to start course correcting.

  • There are plenty of marxist rooted ideologies that eschew violence, and opt for a more electoral or direct action/mutual aid type of approach to bringing about communism.

  • I don't know anything about the black panther support of North Korea, but I also don't really see how that's relevant. Today, they are a repressive dictatorship. Just because they call themselves "democratic" does not mean they actually are, and just because they claim to be communist does not mean leftists should support them.

  • No no, you don't understand, you're only a true Marxist if you call for armed revolution. /s

  • Half the people on the bottom half of the image are also marxists. So I honestly have no clue what the fuck you're talking about.

  • Why should anyone care what an unironic North Korea supporter thinks about American politics?

  • Goatse is not that stomach turning, but tubgirl is like a geyser of hot chili

  • Bro, I'm eating soup. Wtf.

  • It's certainly possible to make it easier to understand and relatable, but I'm just saying that as far as useful things to know for all students, I think calculus is at the bottom of the list. On the other hand, nearly every single person will encounter some sort of statistics in their daily lives, and it is important to know how to interpret them.

  • I don't think rates of change or approaching a limit are things that an average person would find useful. I do think that some sort of statistics should be a requirement though, especially applied statistics.

  • Everything reminds me of him.

  • I am not familiar with flat packs vs snaps, I will have to look into that. I'm not opposed to learning different file systems if need be, it's all new to me anyway, but if one is easier than the other I would probably go with that.

  • Reaper was the plan, but open to something different.

  • What hardware do you have? Mine is somewhat on the older side (ryzen 3600 and rx 6600), but new enough to run games and other software decently.

  • What apps does Mint have installed by default? Because I'm trying to minimize the things I need to tinker with up front to have a good experience. I am somewhat technically savvy, but this is my first linux install, so I'd like it to go smoothly and hit the ground running. What is the benefit of mint over this OS?

  • Interesting stuff, thanks for sharing! Definitely concerning, especially the openAI stuff. I guess I will take a look at grapheneOS again, but I just hate the idea that I need to buy a google product in order to use it.

  • Linux @lemmy.ml

Ubuntu Studio for a first distro?
