  • The website charges a 22% buyer's premium fee?!? Then a $19 shipping fee with 0.9% insurance fee?!?

  • Yeah I'm waiting for it to go back down to $40. I'm in no rush haha.

  • Pause your YouTube watch and search history. It makes a world of a difference.

I like videos I care about and want to see more of. Watching a single junk video (in theory) doesn't ruin my feed.

  • I've been hearing good reviews about the Onn Pro box by Walmart (of all companies, yes) if you're in the US.

Comes with 32 GB storage and a USB 3 port to add storage to it.

  • First time coming across the Unwatched app. Thanks for sharing!

  • The fries are great. I will defend them wholeheartedly.

Everything else leaves a lot to be desired in terms of nutrition, flavour and cost.

  • The video was a fun watch.

There's a growing trend of wanting bigger, gigantic houses. Simone's done an excellent job making the most out of the space available and showing that such a place can still feel comfortable and homey. The challenges she faced brought forward her problem solving and creativity skills.

I like the channel quite a bit.

  • Incredibly sleazy. Fitting that it's a PayPal company.

  • I've been using NextDNS for about 1.5 years as a paid customer.

Sometimes I run into these weird connection issues where nothing loads. I turn off private DNS on Android then turn it back on and pages start loading again. I haven't had this issue on iPadOS and Windows.

I don't know if it's an Android thing or a NextDNS thing.

I wish there was an easier way to enable/disable it on their website as sometimes you need to access a website blocked by your filters and it can be cumbersome to remove private DNS in Windows' settings.

Other than that it's worked well.

  • Nothing serious, but I track all the games I play. According to stats, I completed 30 games and spent a total of 4d 15h 32m playing games this year.

  • Mostly Lemmy. Mastodon sometimes – I have to spend more time there muting RSS bot accounts to find stuff of my interest.

Dipping my toes into Bluesky as well. So far it's been good – very polished experience.

I also lurk quite a bit on Tildes.net.

  • Current: Pixel 6a. Probably the best out of all the phones I've owned. Wish the battery life was a little bit longer.

I do have a soft spot for my first ever smartphone, the Nexus 4. I adored it.

  • Yep.

Looking forward to multi-community support on Lemmy.

It won't fix the issue of comments being everywhere though. Take this post I made on [email protected]. The same link has been crossposted to 7 other communities with many more comments. I wonder if in the future it'll be possible to combine comments from various posts about a single link into a megapost of some sort.

    • Seal: Allows me to download YouTube videos, Instagram reels, etc. It's a simple and pretty front end for yt-dlp.
    • Fossify Calendar: Finally kicked Google Calendar to the curb. No fuss calendar app.
    • AVNC: Allows me to remotely control my laptop from my phone. Requires installation of VNC software on the laptop (I'm using TightVNC).
    • Binary Eye: Barcode/QR code scanner with history.
    • Loop Habit Tracker: Helps me keep track of habits – eg. going to the gym X times a week.
    • Island: Allows me to create a clone of app. Useful for apps that don't support multi-accounts.
    • Simple Time Tracker: I use it to keep track of how long I spend playing a game, since I like documenting the info for HowLongToBeat.com

Other than these, K9 Mail and NewPipe.

  • Happy to answer! Don't worry I don't bite haha.

    Its draws for me were:

    • Portability: Carry it wherever you want. Game on the couch or on the go.
    • Price: Starts at 400 USD.
    • Performance: It has decent performance.
    • Ease of use: It's plug and play like a console. Don't have to mess around with settings if you don't want to.
    • Dockable: Use any USB C dock to connect it to your monitor/TV and play games on a larger screen.
    • Linux PC: Switch to Desktop Mode and it's now a regular computer.
    • Not restricted to Steam: If you have a game library on other service such as GOG or Epic, you can use a third-party launcher like Heroic.
    • Repairability: Valve's been good about providing spare parts. You can upgrade storage on your own.
    • Comes with a nice carry case.

    Drawbacks that I found:

    • Certain games aren't supported on Linux - especially many multiplayer games with anti-cheat.
    • It's heavy: My fingers fatigue far quicker as compared to a Nintendo Switch. Haven't tried other handhelds so I can't provide a comparison with them.
