  • Yep, that's it.

  • <rolls eyes>

  • No. I think America's violence is a problem.

  • Then China must feel real threatened. According to this, it's against the law in China to even say you don't agree with the law.

"A citizen, when exercising the right of freedom of the press, shall abide by the Constitution and the law, and shall not oppose the basic principles established by the Constitution or damage the interests of the State, the society or the collective, or the lawful freedom and rights of other citizens."

A million Uyghurs, whose only apparent crime is being Muslim, have been sent to labor camps and undergone forced sterilization.

Tiananmen Square started out as people peacefully protesting government corruption, and ended in the state murdering them.

With respect to free speech, there's not even a comparison there with respect to America. It's not "potato potato".

  • Is it not a valid point?

  • ...says the guy on Lemmy criticizing the U.S. government and not getting thrown in jail for it.

  • Why does the one astronaut have the flag of Ohio on the shoulder?

  • More like coffee drule, amiright?

  • Like, who is coding the apps that I use? Teenagers? Senior citizens? Mothers in a mid-life crisis?

  • I see this from the Stack Overflow survey. But that's not limited to open source.

  • This is stupid. No ancap person I've ever known or read has said that. It bothers me when people tear down other people because of the words they put in their mouth.

I know it builds community, it's fun, no one is likely to be hurt, etc. It just bothers me is all.

  • Like a TV that flunked kindergarten? j/k

  • Count me in for #3.

  • If you literally replaced the firmware, what else could possibly be phoning home?

  • I don't know how remotes work, physically, but they gotta send some sort of code to the TV. If your TV's OS can intercept that message it can choose its own response mapped to whatever you want to happen. Something akin to remapping keys in your keyboard.

I would assume, anyway. I could be wrong.

  • That sounds, uh, fun.

  • I was thinking that if somebody knows how to do that, they probably also have an opinion on which brands of TV are better or worse for it.

I don't own a TV right now but plan to in the future.

  • I like your reasoning. I'm a libertarian myself, so I get it.

But I held my nose and voted Democrat the last two Presidential elections because I think Trump is a uniquely dangerous person. I hate the "this time is different" argument, but I actually think it applied this time.

  • A plan?
