  • What's a fun one???

  • Oh that's what that is 😅 I have that a bunch - was hard to describe as it's not sleep paralysis. It's often.... confusing... and occasionally disturbing but I'm a bit used to it at this point. It is so weird how it persists until the lights come on

I sat bolt upright in the middle of the night one time talking to the wall, kinda grumpily, and my partner was really disturbed.... trying to explain to her that the customs officer wanted something didn't really help that much.

Seeing bed bugs all over my whole body and everywhere in a grungy motel was pretty disturbing. And a hooded man in the corner, staring, during the middle of the night in a new persons' bed.

  • For a while I cooked, now I work with computers. I travelled around, pre-covid with that job which was a good time.

  • Lots of stumbling. Thinking I liked something, learning things in life, try other things. Eventually I found something that I really liked.

  • ADHD Brains are different - so some advice that works for non-ADHD brains may or may not work.

In general, being present and meditation (in whatever way that works for you, but, generally the practice of observing your thoughts as they go by but not reacting to them) are helpful for 'strengthening' your thought patterns. Becoming aware of things and building up that muscle is how you can have more of that willpower.

Habits can be very difficult to build, don't get discouraged. Find things that work for you and ways to incentivize or motivate yourself.

    https://www.youtube.com/@HowtoADHD/ Here's a great youtube channel

  • I used KBin first, the interface was great but (at least a monthish ago) the federation and community syncing was pretty rough on the instance I was on. Swapped to Lemmy and it's goin great. Wouldn't really consider tilde or rabble or the others - too small community and no chance to grow due to being in their own little closed off garden

  • FWIW - lemmy.world can still see posts on the instances that defederated - they just can't see us. Like lemmy.world got shadowbanned

  • Probably depends on who specifically is running the instance and the community on that instance

  • Reddit changes all the time too. Posts are added, edited, deleted. If they don't find a way to monetize, soon, they also likely won't be able to pay for their storage indefinitely.

Reddit is just a website (and really just a forum with a special interface) that has been around for a decade+

The knowledge and accumulation came from users and time. Same as anywhere else

  • whynotboth

  • Also - fwiw - they are likely to refederate in the future. I subscribe to beehaw communities, cuz we can still see them, just can't talk to them.

  • In case any folks who are on a lemmy instance instead of kbin see this post (Hello new users!), boost is a kbin feature, which is a different type of "software" than lemmy. The main kbin instance is https://kbin.social , which can interact with both Lemmy and Mastodon instances

tl;dr - kbin is different than lemmy. They all talk to each other though. Boost is kbin only

  • whoops. I cleared out the <$10 bin...

    Figured would be good Steamdeck:

    • FFIX
    • FFX
    • Hotline Miami 2
    • Devil Daggers
    • Sprint Vector
    • DOOM
    • Wizard of Legend
    • GRIS
    • Loop Hero
    • Spring Falls

    VR Games:

    • ACE COMBAT 7: SKIES UNKNOWN
    • STAR WARS™: Squadrons
    • A Fisherman's Tale
    • Thumper
    • Assetto Corsa

    Other:

    • The Room Two
    • The Room Three
    • Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition
  • Hello world! (from lemmy.world :D )

  • I sure hope so :[ The idea of a completely-not-consistent social media future feels.... bad.

  • KBin handles mastodon (at least to some degree)? So I think that would be the one - that supports itself, lemmy, and mastodon

  • What's the one-sentence pitch for brotato? I know it's a roguelike? I think?
