  • Day off while they prepare to fire you, maybe

  • I am a sicko

  • Well derailed, succesfully avoided going anywhere near the actual argument.

I'm sure the manufacturers would've been in more legal trouble if they shipped VCRs packed with pirated content.

VCRs do not contain such copyrighted material.

  • Mate, what?

It is the end user who receives the broadcast and feeds it into the VCR, is it not?

  • Walk into a store? I just use a toothpick or a needle

  • do we say the maker of the VCR/DVD burner/computer is at fault

There's one difference you ignored: to copy a video with a VCR, the user needs to supply the copyrighted material. I'm sure the manufacturers would've been in more legal trouble if they shipped VCRs packed with pirated content.

  • Consoles have been brand tribalistic since forever, probably because of marketing, and that it used to be mostly kids. Insufferable computer users felt superior because with money and effort a PC could run games better than consoles.

Most of the fighting has ended now, which is nice. Mobile gaming was and is looked down because of its reputation as a shovelware platform.

  • It's not an ending; the only ending is the bad one. We need to succeed every time, but terrorists only once. It'll be back.

  • "Fixing" notation is kinda like "fixing" English language. Besides, quarter notes make sense in the context of the rest of the system.

  • 3 was real fun, but maybe a bit too much. I think a 2.5 is where it's at.

  • I was vaguely aware of them being a thing elsewhere as a kid. Back then someone even thought they were cool because of Harry Potter films. Never thought of it as authoritarianism, just pointless.

But now that you say it, placing restrictions to make people look the same is kind of authoritarian.

  • I'm talking sbout before that. Management didn't understand what they were doing and pushed hair brained ideas like having to hold the phone sideways against your ear.

  • Afaik the network and handset halves were almost like separate companies, one being better managed than the other.

  • I don't know enough to say anything concrete, but it's for sure going to be abstractions on top of abstractions.

  • Hard to say. It might as well be a harmless hobby project by a chinese university student, but I would only trust an established foss developer for a browser addon.

  • CRT taser sounds like a very poor idea
