Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•how did you make the switch from reddit to lemmy.. i'm trying to myself but struggling to ngl
4·2 months agoI nuked my account and stopped going there. Just make the decision to never go back and then be done with it.
Looks like there’s just a private constructor and a public getter for the instance.
I had always wondered what the point was. Now that actually makes sense.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Audacity 4 will be a full UI overhaul apparently.
291·2 months agoWatched last weekend. Not a huge fan of the rebrand, but the changes that actually count look great.
It accepts both connectors. Yes, they are somehow real.
I’ve been using it for notes and random documents. It’s the best one I’ve used so far.
I hate how games like Need For Speed always paint racers as villains
I recently played NFS Heat, and that somehow twists it into street racers being good (at least relative to the corrupt cops). I haven’t played all of them, but the only one I remember where the racers just unapologetically villains is the BMW Driver Simulator, aka NFS Most Wanted (2005), and I absolutely loved it for that.
That said, if you do that shit irl, you’re a pos.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone else feel worried when you see a big number in the Lemmy notification inbox?
20·2 months agoYou guys are seeing big numbers in your notification box?
The superior method is from behind.
LLMs don’t and can’t do math. They don’t calculate anything, that’s just not how they work. Instead, they do this:
2 + 2 =? What comes after that? Oh, I remember! It’s ‘4’!It could be right, it could be wrong. If there’s enough pattern in the training data, it could remember the correct answer. Otherwise it’ll just place a plausible looking value there (behavior known as AI hallucination). So, you can not “trust” it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Are there actually any good mobile games?
2·2 months agoMat Dickie! Didn’t really care about the mobile games, but the classic 3D ones were the shit.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is the 'What have the Romans ever done for us' sketch pro-colonial propaganda?
11·2 months agoDon’t think so. I guess it’s there because they came up with a bit that makes the resistance look like idiots, as they do for everyone in the movie. The Romans and their crucifixion system weren’t shown in a good light either.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•(Controversial) Political parties are like bundled sales.
6·3 months agoYou want a party that pushes X and Y, but by voting them, you’re also voting for Z and W, which you might not like.
