Opinions exclusively of my own and of voices in my head.

Autism, communism, arthitism, cannabism.

  • GoW isn’t really open world, there’s a hub and there’s smaller, mostly linear locations. Gameplay is more of an Uncharted with axes and combos. It is a very good game though.

  • Plausible deniability.

  • This thing somehow looks to me more fun than Mario Kart World. Controls are tight and now there’s Micro Machines mode too?

  • This game has a horrendous stutter, don’t buy it until it’s fixed. Thankfully there’s a demo so you can see it for yourself.

  • Grounded take: You weren’t necessarily misdiagnosed. Prior to DSM-5 (the psychiatric diagnostic manual) which was published in 2013 you couldn’t be diagnosed with both autism and ADHD. Given that there’s no treatment for autism it didn’t make sense to even consider diagnosing people with autism when they were presenting with ADHD. BPD is somewhat common comorbidity of autism too (this one seems more often misdiagnosed but if meds work then not much reason to doubt it).

My real take: it’s all the same thing presenting in different ways, because we’re all different people, but it’s also uncanny how similar people with autism are in some respects.

  • How else would you engage in a foreplay with your laptop?

  • I have ThinkPad at work which is pleasant enough to touch due to rubberised plastic but wanking with it sounds tricky because of how stiff it’s hinges are.

  • Does that make it legal? Cool.

  • Sony is working on a proper handheld and introduced low power mode to PS5 which sounds suspiciously same as introducing new power profile that can be reused in that handheld. Given rising prices of electronics in the US it looks like we’re in for a very cross-gen generation.

  • I thought „groundbreaking” would be sufficient indication of sarcasm, sorry. They discovered a correlation and went wild with it but to be honest science and medicine are rediscovering basic facts about autism all the time - this is just one more example. At this point science is also a bit to blame - we’re producing countless papers that are just data collecting because they don’t even attempt to find causal links, making it easy for politicians to spin it however they want. This is a double edged sword in any case because RFK could say it’s the Jews that are the problem tomorrow using exact same data.

  • They discovered that there’s more neurodivergent people among ethnic Jews? Groundbreaking.

  • Pretty sure big part of this is selection bias combined with ASD making it more likely for us to subscribe to more extreme versions of ideologies due to all or nothing mindset. It doesn’t guarantee that you’re going to be a cool hippie uncle because it could be the exact opposite too.

To give an example - most of the older autistic people in my family are in denial of this which in consequence makes them pretty shitty people. Living in denial of your autism oftentimes means that you’re also living in denial of being bisexual which leads to funky opinions like sexuality being a choice. Being aware you’re being manipulated can also make you more isolated and in turn ramp up paranoia or other schizoid type behaviours. When you feel like an alien it’s much easier to subscribe to cutthroat views about economy and things like that. TLDR: there are vile autistic people too

  • Tiny DLSS has about half the overhead in terms of frametime cost but sacrifices anti-aliasing on moving objects. Video weighs pros and cons of using tiny DLSS with bigger input resolution (Star Wars: Outlaws) vs full DLSS with smaller input resolution (Cyberpunk 2077) but the point of video is to show those differences directly. In my opinion lack of AA in motion is a bit overstated as it’s relatively hard to notice without magnifying glass.

  • There’s Kodi in WebOS brew appstore. I’ve only ever used Kodi for offline media libraries but as far as I know there’s plenty of third party Kodi addons for this kind of piracy.

The history of themeable user interfaces

    bradfrost.com /blog/post/the-history-of-themeable-user-interfaces/
  • How common is standalone dyspraxia, without autism as a comorbidity? I get an impression that DCD is just another tell for neurodivergence. Doubly so because they mention anxiety and exclusion as supposed common consequence.

  • Star Wars: Outlaws, 15 hours in.

It’s Star Wars Assassin’s Creed Witcher essentially. There is a touch of what I call Ubisoftosis (map with a million pins) but they didn’t overdo it this time. Main story is okay so far, sidequests are nothing to write home about but somehow it all comes together very nicely because systems play off each other constantly.

The first hook is the setting of course. I’m not a big Star Wars fan but I appreciate how richly detailed it is. I can’t help but compare it to Starfield where travelling is a chore and Outlaws does everything right. Even with fast travel available I usually travel to my spaceship on speeder or on foot, launch from the ground to orbit, punch in hyperdrive and land in the same way. It’s so seamless and fun!

My squirrel brain remains entertained because of the exploration & upgrades loop. There’s lots of environmental puzzles that are really well done and equipment rewards are usually worth it. On top of that you have abilities that you gain by performing certain actions, some of which can be a bit of a puzzle too, similar to how achievement work usually.

Kessel Sabacc is Star Wars Gwent, surprisingly fun for how simple the rules are. Switch 2 version includes Sabacc related DLC which is nice.

Technical side is really impressive. I didn’t think I’d see games with RTGI on Switch 2, especially not at launch. It does crash from time to time though but I haven’t lost more than a minute or so of progress thankfully. The game really benefits from playing on the go as you can quickly score some side jobs and leave main story for when you have more time at home.

The biggest drag for me are spaceship parts. The ship handles horribly and controls are weird. I have no fun spinning while chasing red arrows. If I could I’d keep Southpaw control scheme strictly for those parts it’d be bearable but alas…

Best 7/10 game I played in a while.

More obscure stuff might not be well seeded but I haven’t found anything better.

  • „Breaks community rules” is likely coming from Voyager users because the app presents it as a predefined option for report reason. People likely assume that it’s some kind of an integrated reporting flow. This issue was raised recently in Voyager community: https://lemmy.world/post/35221872
