I am definitely a llama.

🤫 🦙 ¯_ (ツ) _/¯

  • Costco has these giant bags of dried fruit - I really love the sliced dry mangoes, but we also get apricots, strawberries, pineremoved … this time he picked up craisins and dried plums that are just this side of being prunes. They also sell big tubs of little tomatoes that are meant to stay on the counter which makes it easier to grab than the nutty buddies or jelly beans!

But also we eat nutty buddies and jelly beans.

  • We did 😄 How was the big day??

  • Instead, I built a wall and spent 3 hours on cable cleanup. ಠ_ಠ

  • The carpal tunnel is getting pretty bad, so shouldn’t be pushing through it for a little.

You're right, you should not push through it. Baby that shit! The wrist hurt disease is no joke. As I'm sure you already know.

It really sucked when I couldn't do my favorite things for around a year. Mostly video games and pc stuff, but also knitting and crochet, and even zipping my own pants.ಠ_ಠ

Take care of yourself! (Also, beautiful pics!)

  • Grats, man! Have a fun day!

I hope to sit around and play video games (high) at least part of the day. Definitely no big plans like a wedding!

  • Thanks - I've done a bit of gardening successfully, but this is an intersection of 2 of my biggest hobbies! Knowing that there are overlaps between that and this will help me out a lot.

Thanks for the title, too! (Even if I'm not going to use everything right away, I'd like to have the ability to pivot without losing days to researching something before implementing it)

  • Thank you - it's kind of amazing how far down the results list that page was, with how much info they have and how long they've been online. That seems like a huge resource! Thanks

As far as soil v hydro goes, I have had terrible terrible luck with just about every soil-based plant I've ever grown - but these neglected tabasco peppers in old jars of nutrient water are going on year 2.¯(ツ)

  • That's fair - I had just thought it must be the new normal, if it had trickled down to our city (city, but not big city).

The whole business of blaring ads at a captive audience is bs, either way!

  • I don't live in a big city, by any stretch - but I guess it's not the sticks, because we have that shit around here. And not just the busiest gas stations, by the highway. I hate it.

  • Your voice is fine, and I don't think it's annoying. At all.

Maybe "hate" is a strong word for it, but everyone's voice sounds different to their ears than it does in their head. It has to do with resonance chamber something something

  • Haha - you too! I am also going to have to look into that, just in case 😅

  • Hell, I could be wrong too :-P I've never gone in that direction - only adding a Linux dual boot from USB stick. That sounds kinda scary, and would definitely make it easy.

Well, damn. Thanks for warning me about that possibility - looked like more steps that included BIOS last I checked, but as I said, I've never needed the process.¯(ツ)

Edit: I should note that I have installed Windows from a USB stick recently, I've just never already had another OS installed and then going to Windows. Most of my experience is installing a Linux flavor for dual boot.

  • I use this app called MoeMemos which is for memos I guess? But the reason I mention it like this is because I'm the user who needs to have the easy access on our server :-P

I ~don't know if it's an active community or not~ just checked and it looks like it's active on GitHub at least.

  • I guess I don't know - I think you'd still have to go into BIOS and switch it to boot from USB? I don't know about the rest of it, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't just start installation. Unless it's a thumb drive specifically tailored to take over someone's system?

So yes, you could reinstall Windows, but it would still require a reboot to BIOS to allow for it. Am I missing something? What's the big "gotcha" that I missed? I genuinely don't know, and since I am not an expert on installation of OSes, if you could enlighten me, that could be useful for me.

  • I don't feel like that's exclusive to Lenovo, fwiw. I have an Asus laptop, and it went like that for me installing Linux from a USB stick. It was a hassle and you're right that it seems harder than it needs to be.

I don't have any idea why it's like that, but it feels like it's a better option than someone being able to walk up to my PC/laptop/whatever and change my os just by using a thumb drive without any other hoops to go through. That's just where I stand on the issue, but you're right that it sucks for the owner/user.

  • I would have to agree with that - I'd rather have someone else's butt take the full brunt of an outdoor, nighttime, northern England, cold toilet seat. Lol - those types of cold seats are what taught me to "hover" when necessary. (Well, not specifically the same as northern England outdoor toilets, but similar)

  • As a person who had spent 30+ years thinking that "a warm seat = someone had been sitting long enough to make it warm" and thought it was therefore gross, now that I have a heated toilet seat/bidet combo, now I think a cold seat is worse.

  • I feel like I’m failing adulthood after being bested by a bedsheet.

Don't worry - most ~older adults~ people aren't going to quiz you by bringing a fitted sheet to watch you fold. If you want to bunch it up and shove it in a cabinet, just go ahead!

A lot of times when I wash our sheets I just put them right back on the bed. Now there's a life hack for ya!

    1. Muffins (Seems to be the overall best, but it would kinda be a hassle)

The hassle is what makes it a good gift. Just sayin. Worry about finals more than stressing about what to get her. 🙂

  • Concur. I have every card, note, poster, or coloring page I've ever gotten from a student. (I volunteered with kids younger than OP)

Misspelled words don't matter (I guess maybe if it's your language arts/spelling/writing teacher it would matter a little) because they thought of me and put time, thought, and energy into a gift for me instead of making a tiktok or whatever.
