  • Perfect? Who said anything about perfect data? I said actually fact checked data. You keep movimg the bar on what possible as an excuse to not even try.

They could indeed build models that worked on actual data from expert sources, and then have their agents check those sources for more correct info when they create an answer. They don't want to, for all the same reasons I've already stated.

It's possible, it does not "doom" LLM, it just massively increases its accuracy and actual utility at the cost of money, effort and killing the VC hype cycle.

  • That's how they work now, trained with bad data and designed to always answer with some kind of positive response.

They absolutely can be trained on actual data, trained to give less confident answers, and have an error checking process run on their output after they formulate an answer.

  • If "they have to use good data and actually fact check what they say to people" kills "all machine leaning models" then it's a death they deserve.

The fact is that you can do the above, it's just much, much harder (you have to work with data from trusted sources), much slower (you have to actually validate that data), and way less profitable (your AI will be able to reply to way less questions) then pretending to be the "answer to everything machine."

  • They don't care until they don't have any truckers. Then they care.

If its a big company like old dominion, they likely wont give a fuck ever, but my company always has trouble keeping hold of truckers and they really do give a shit about the churn.

  • If you have a strong burner, the recommended carbon steel wok works great too, even on my electric stove. Im stunned at how fast it heats up and what a good job it does even in my inexperienced hands.

Kenji, a serious eats alumni, has an award winning wok book I picked up at the same time. It's a beast, covering tons of different cuisine and methods. Really great combo.

  • Id recommend going for carbon steel instead of teflon if all clad or stainless steel is too much work.

For like $40-100, they heat up insanely well, are very light and will last your lifetime. They form an excellent non stick coating after several uses just like cast iron.

  • You should also know they were bought a couple years back by IGN, and have drastically increased the minimum "tip" amount in bundles that you give them while also hiding the sliders more. Instead of being the $1 of old humble, its now $7.50.

They also changed the choice discount you get on their direct store to slowly ramp up to 20% only when you stay subscribed for 12 months straight. It resets to 0% if you pause a month. The 20% off also has random exclusions, so it just doesn't apply, or applies at some lesser rate at their whim.

Its not a bad site, but it's slowly enshittifying a hallowed name in gaming.

  • That's pretty interesting. Mine doesnt have a dedicated button, but is a very good convection oven and will run at low temps.

Ive never considered using it as a sous vide. Thanks for the idea!

  • Its a wildly popular niche game for good reason.

It's the defacto automation game, and can get pretty wildly funny with multiplayer co-op. Players slot into niches and ted to focus on building out X or Y and when these things meet can be hilarious.

It also has a versus mode where you race to build bases on a shared map and kill your opponents first.

  • Hopefully as an alternative at times and not as an addition. Doing both wouldn't have any advantage, as both work to take the internal temp of the meat to a specific state and hold it there.

  • Sounds like they rebranded convection a bit, but more power to them if it works.

  • I find it to basically be exactly the same, but almost no setup. No filling a pot/container with water, putting the stick heater in, ziplocking or vacuum sealing the meat, then waiting an hour+ for it to hit temperature.

Toss the steaks on a tray, preheat toaster oven in 5 min to 225f, prep and cook the rest of the meal and the sear off the steaks after 20min. Easy as fuck.

  • Try the reverse sear method instead. You get sous vise like results with no plastic, no water bath, just an oven and a pan.

I use my toaster oven to do the precook while searing off vegetables in my pan or baking in the larger oven, then get the pan wicked hot and sear the steak. Fast, excellent mutlitasking. Works well for pork chops too.

  • Of course. Look at the "network state" concept that the alt right tech bros love.

Tiny nation states ruled by the elites, where laws and rights are set not by a wide ranging view of human rights, but by those in power. One of your only rights is the ability to leave. To where? Who knows, and surely nit with all your valuables going with you. No voting, not basic dignity, nothing else if the techo kings dont want to provide it. Corpo kings, contract as the only law.

The end state of the above and fascism is the same. A ruling class that sets the rules, and a citizenry that has to abide by them, or else.

Is it literal fascism? Who knows. Are you under the boot of a privileged class, at the full mercy of their whims just like monarchy or fascism? Yes indeed.

  • Looking at the trees brings most of the relief, so I expect even those are just as calming as long as you don't touch them and don't know what they are.

  • Trees are also essential for insects, bird and animal life in cities. They are psychologically calming for people as well.

  • The lift here is that you setup the end users client. If they aren't local, buy one and ship it. Since it will be on your always on tailscale vpn, you can then interact with it remotely if needed.

Android tvs can be had for $35, Raspi 5 are around the same range, with apple tvs about $130. Have people pony up the cash and mail one of what they want out to them.

That may be too much to ask if you share to a lot of casual friends/family, but its been a successful answer for me.
