  • Booking.com cancelled woman's $4K hotel reservation, then offered her same rooms for $17K

    Jump
  • Personally I use those websites to find the best price, then call the hotel to book directly with them at that price. At least the hotel gets 100% of the money, I get a rebate and better & direct service and I get to fuck those websites out of their revenue share.

  • Not an issue limited to the Steam Machine, but yeah..

  • I rarely play the latest games, so that machine would be a good upgrade for me. Especially with the ability to load a different OS that I could use for both productivity and gaming.

Bump it to a bigger SSD and 64GB of RAM and I'll be happy with it.

  • Not to the regular users if "Hide modlog mod names" is enabled, but other instance admins (including remote admins) can see it all regardless. So the info itself is federated across instances.

Ex: if I look at the /c/[email protected] modlog as a guest

if I look at the same modlog but with my lemmy.ca instance admin account

  • That's just the nature of the fediverse, all actions are public for transparency and accountability.

    Even moderator actions are public.

  • For me it defaults to around $250 each time, but my car will take about $50 for a full tank. So I change it to around $60 just to avoid holding a lot more than needed.

  • Video-conferencing, it's terrible that most platforms out there aren't interoperable, and you have to choose which platform to use between businesses, and tough luck if your video-conference room doesn't support anything else than the one in use within your business.

There are solutions out there to bridge these, or you can buy other hardware kits that claim to support multiple platforms, but that doesn't help you if you can't afford to replace those right away.

  • Aka the GabeCube.

  • Hopefully the people behind GOG can figure out a way to bring these back in a legal manner :)

  • In order to calculate an accurate sunrise and sunset time, you need the following variables to be known.

    • The current day
    • The current time (if you want to know the time delta for when it rises and sets)
    • The current location

Also, we need to consider that NTP sends the time in UTC, and the timezone offset calculation is done by the endpoint.

Even if you know the timezone your in, it still doesn't provide the exact position you need to accurately determine when the sun will rise and set.

  • They want someone to blame for their perceived misery, and to vent their anger at others having it better than them.

It's easier to do that instead of being introspective.

  • Fewer kids on the street, they've outgrown the trick-or-treating phase. And with how expensive it is to own a property now, I don't expect young couples to buy a house here anytime soon.

  • I wish I could get it, but my insurance won't cover it :'(

  • I'm in the Android ecosystem and I bought some compatible with the Google Find My network.

I use them on my keys, inside my kids backpack (both in elementary school), one hidden inside my car, a spare that I put inside the bag I use that day when commuting (laptop bag, backpack, luggage) and another one attached to my dog's collar.

The last one ended up being useful a couple of times, I couldn't find my dog in the house and he was sleeping under our bed, and another time he was sleeping on a white blanket the kids left bunched up on the floor and he was basically invisible on it (he's all white) 🤣

  • Eufy cameras linked to their HomeBase for storage, or you can send the cameras recording to your own NAS through RTSP.

  • Basically a nothingburger..

  • Optical disks. It was almost a necessity on laptop to have an optical drive, now there's maybe one or two models out there that comes with one.

  • Some niche stuff that I can't find a sizeable community elsewhere, but that's about it.
