  • We had a game like that in graphing calculators we passed around at school.

  • I create aliases and each contact gets an alias. If the address EVERY gets spam, I know exactly who is at fault.

  • Electron and react native….no. Just no. If you plan to eventually put it on the net and need the test it day to day locally fine this could make sense. Otherwise I feel like it’s catering to a far more complex user experience with a shit ton of overhead. (Compare how the windows 11 start menu works to literally everything else)

  • Gay perspective:

You must have a face pic of you within the last decade first. After that, anything goes.

Ads are reduced from appearing once every 5 taps to once every time you launch the app. At most. Go away. My hands are busy. That’s why I’m here.

If you use a VPN, you never see ads, and if you route porn traffic and Tiannamen square footage you get free membership forever.

  • Fold me, senpai!

  • No raid. Instead ship 2 or 3 copies of data spread across different storage devices.

Honestly, is tape still a thing? Because this is exactly what it was good at.

  • Are we really at the point of hosting web services locally rather than installing a program? What problem does that solve?

  • Meanwhile my customers are calling me up asking for help LEAVING outlook. Unprompted.

Yea, Microsoft shit the bed with this whole AI thing. Nobody wants locked into their shit now.

  • To anyone following, I found part of the problem was a few stale interfaces cockpit lied about were still around. Cockpit still sucks. if you must use it, only tweak with it. do initial config from the CLI.

Now I just need to figure out how to keep the bridges from deactivating when the VM doesnt load fast enough for them. NetworkManager seems really impatient.

  • I still used leaded solder because I could never get lead free to behave for me.

  • I can paste in here whatever you want pulled off nmcli if that helps.

  • I create the VLANs off the parent interface. Then I create the bridges to each vlan and the untagged lan. Then I have the host set to get an IP from the untagged LAN and do not get IPs from the VLANs. Finally I set the VM to add its virtual interfaces to each of the VLANs and the untagged LAN.

For some reason, it’s not adding itself to the untagged lan. It adds itself to the VLANs but not the lan.

  • Okay I did that with WAN and that can work there but it’s not possible to do that with LAN because the containers need to be able to talk to those networks too.

  • I have a failover so it’s not a risk. And I cannot pass the intel card to the VM because the passthrough on this motherboard only works on GPU and one of the NVMe slots. The goals of this build was to put everything in one box and get the fuck off the cloud.

  • Linux @lemmy.ml

cannot get network bridges working in fedora server

  • Heavy and annoying.

You know I might just do XFS in the NVME, LVM XFS for the hard drives, and just keep good backups. Fuck the snapshots entirely. I feel like I’m giving up :(.

I wonder, I want sunshine in a container doing Wayland zero copy, immich, homeassistant, jellyfin, pinchflat, frigate, and an opnsense VM. NUT, i2pd, and BitTorrent could possibly be put into containers too. If everything is a container or VM anyway, maybe I should go back to fedora but look at core instead of server.

  • Yes. Now you install it as a dkms module and userspace tools. The tech is fine. The maintainer is an ass is all.

Anyway I can’t get btrfs to give me what bcachefs does. It don’t do per subvolume compression settings. It won’t tier storage. It’s not elastic. I can come close to that with LVM, bcache, and btrfs but is just not very cleanly done. Bcachefs is in a wild place but it did all I wanted it to so I tried the other things and now I want to go back.

  • Linux @lemmy.ml

going back to arch, cant remember how I did it though

  • You have only 2 choices. Windows 11, or anything else.

  • I’ve heard that! But I’m gay so I’m not sure the shareholders want it to serve me.

  • Edge is actually pretty great. Bing…well, the image search is okay.
