F*** Wayland

  • It's a bird!

    It's a plane!

    It's Strawman!

  • Delete my memories of everything pre-2016.

I feel like it would be easier to live in this nightmare if I didn't remember a relatively stable, functioning world.

  • Are you sure? Because based on the internet armchair developers I see around, open source developers are an inexhaustible source of unending miracles that work for free and are fueled by incoherent, conflicting, entitled demands from 14 year olds.

  • It's so nice that SOMEONE is trying to make good use of great technology and isn't actively trying to engineer microSD cards out of existence.

  • That's not true.

He said smart people don't like him.

  • Hero.

    Feature parity or get out

  • How?

    Jump
  • I WILL continue to use Xorg. My workflow requires it. If that means I have to use an unmaintained window manager forever, so be it.

None of this would be an issue if the Wayland developers weren't so pigheaded that they insist upon forcing their pure, untainted design philosophy onto the project rather than building an inclusive model that allows for backwards compatibility with the system it's meant to replace.

  • How?

    Jump
  • Then I'll make my OWN distro. With blackjack. And hookers.

Seriously though... I will have NO desktop environment and run terminal only before I will accept Wayland. Either reach feature parity and stop gaslighting me about functionality that has been there in X11 for decades and is a necessary part of my workflow, or back off.

  • How?

    Jump
  • Keep angrily gaslighting. Surely you'll EVENTUALLY shame veterans who have been using Linux productively for decades into joining the cult of security over function.

You come into MY home, into MY workflow, take features away from me that have been there ignoring all protests, then have the sheer unmitigated GALL to mock me when I dare to complain?

  • "opposing viewpoints" is too broad a term for the question to be meaningful.

It could mean everything from "Discovery is the best Star Trek series" to "Women aren't real people", and the details of the viewpoint in question are EXTREMELY relevant to your ability to empathize with it.

  • I was gonna say this, but OP also said "something you enjoy"...

  • I mean, it didn't help, but at least there was an impetus to be doing it. Something wasn't working.

  • I am convinced he could molest his supporters' children right in front of them and they'll find a way to make themselves believe it was justified.

There is literally no less logical form of life than a MAGA.

  • The NES was the only one that had defective connector design because of the side loading mechanism of the US console.

Top loading consoles NEVER needed that. I played hundreds of games across multiple top-loading consoles and never once had one not start up IMMEDIATELY the first time.

Anybody who was blowing in their SNES/N64 cartridges was insane.

  • Shhh!

You're not supposed to say the quiet part out loud!

Just keep pretending our societies are equitable.
