  • I'm afraid I'm still on reddit quite a bit. Most communities have a lot more activity there. Rust, nixos, luthiery, local and state level subreddits. r/fiddle, and other instrument subreddits have more activity.

That said theres a lot of chaff that I wouldn't miss. r/sysadmins is all removed about corporate work, r/machinists the same but blue collar. r/hiking is all shoe posts and gear. Political subreddits have lots of activity but its 90% rage farming.

Technical communities are strong on lemmy, despite their smaller size. And its refreshing to read the super far left diatribes, I don't get that stuff elsewhere.

  • its such a bad joke that its hard to get lol

  • dice keep surprising us with their preferences

  • Recently switched over to LineageOS without the play store. But a few weeks ago I was still on regular old android. Have been relying on FDroid though for a while now - its nonpredatory apps are very nice.

  • I got a oneplus 6 to install nixos, but I'm currently using LineageOS as I kind of got stuck on the nixos install, and I needed a phone. I previously had nixos on a pinephone and it was cool but too slow to use seriously.

I have a second oneplus 6 with a wonky usb port, am going to try to fix that and maybe give nixos another go. Sounds like its even more hassly than I thought!

  • well it sucks. It looks like he's going to die a Nazi. What the fuck dad?

  • Glad to see someone's working the bugs out.

  • yes

  • Ok just curious if there was background/history on this. If I get around to messing with it I can file one.

  • found the code. is there a corresponding issue?

  • yeah. IMO the story text shouldn't be scrollable.

  • I'm with you, I never heard of nova launcher until now, and not sure why I would want it.

  • all I'm gonna say is buy maybelline

  • contracting and consulting. house painting for instance, computer programming, landscaping, etc.

  • yeah I'm glad servo exists, but its far from ready for prime time.

What's crazy is what a monumental undertaking implementing a web browser is now. Would love to see someone propose a new standard to replace html-css-js but distilled down to a radically simplified essence, dropping the accumulated cruft of decades, applying lessons learned. Ideally would be something that could be implemented by a few devs over months rather than requiring a team of hundreds over a decade.

  • There's no such thing as a "dating league". People are selective, but the nature of that selectivity depends on the individual. For some social status is of primary importance. If you don't boost their social status they'll move on. For others, its do you get along, do your personalities mesh well. For others, its life goals - want kids yesterday, or don't want any ever? For others, its dating someone who is self supporting and not an abusive psycho. It can feel like a rigid classification if a lot of girls seem to have similar values.
